Your name:
Alex.

Where are you from?
St.Helens, England.

Name of band:
Silver Story

Who else is in your band?
Tom, Gaz and Mike.

How would you describe yourselves?
We're Rock/ Post Hardcore/ Pop.

Who are your main influences musically?
Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Blink 182, Sum 41 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Realistically we just want to be able to make a decent living doing what we love, but we'd be lying if we said we weren't dreaming of arena shows!

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
There's been a few euphoric moments from headlining our home town to listening back to our second EP 'Wake UP' and thinking....''FUCK YES!''

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There was a time a couple of years ago when the band nearly broke up, we lost two members in a short space of time and it was hard.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? That's a hard question! ...... Boobs?

Where can we listen to it?
Best place is www.silverstory.bandcamp.com, we're also on spotify and itunes.

Where can we find out more about your music?
We post mainly on twitter, follow us @silverstory

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We just hope to get our music out their to as many people as possible and play as many shows as we can because we love playing, and if we put a smile on a few peoples faces while we do it then its all worth while.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
For me personally it was when I became singer of this band and met these guys, its been the best time of my life and they are bro's for life!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There's been plenty, but probably at our third ever gig i had a wee bit too much to drink went on stage and had a shocking performace, was embarrassing, DON'T OVER DO IT KIDS!!

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Probably Looper, it sums up our style pretty well and shows off our skills all in the one song, plus its a catchy wee tune and we are all about the hooks.

Navy Skies Q&A

Your name:
Kara Gauthier.

Where are you from:
Toronto, Canada.

Name of band:
Navy Skies.

Who else is in the band?
Travis Caine (lead vocals and guitar), Paul Cope (drums), Bryan Wychnicki (guitar) and Gary Hazelton (bass).

How would you describe yourselves?
We are a band made up of a bunch of kids that had a strong local punk rock upbringing, so we do have some of those influences in our sound. We are very rock driven with loud guitars and heavy drums, but I try to add some melodic flare through piano and organ. Travis is a storyteller and the band supports those stories with loud rock and roll music.

Who are your main influences musically?
Everyone in the band seems to have similar influences. Bands like the Foo Fighters, Tom Petty and Wilco, along with local music that we were brought up on such as The Constantines and Moneen.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I think we aim to create honest music and make honest connections with our listeners. Connect with people through the stories we tell. We're a band that doesn’t want to be “digitally perfect” and we're best known for our live show. We convey a high amount of energy and interaction in our shows and we want people to experience that through any form of our music. Even when listening to our records we want people to notice little human error or natural inflections in the way each of us individually play. To me it is a more honest approach to music and gives our fans a more personal connection to our songs.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We've had the honour to play in some great places with some truly talented bands, but for me it is getting emails and messages from people who say they really connect and love our music. It's a great feeling for someone to really connect with your work and get excited with you for what the band’s future has in store.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I can take some bad nights pretty personally. I don’t really want to forget those bad nights but I wish I had a better attitude about it at the time.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I’m sure everyone in the band would say something different but I would say “Cut My Teeth”. It’s a song that came at a time when the band really started to understand our sound. I think it represents the band we are today and where we are going with our songs, lyrically and musically.

Where can we listen to it?
We recently released “Cut My Teeth” as a digital 7”.  We recorded it live off the floor and we couldn’t be happier with the way it  turned out.  You can check out the recent release here: http://navyskies.bandcamp.com/ or https://soundcloud.com/navyskies

Where can we find out more about the band?
You can check out our bandsite at www.navyskies.com, and through social media at: www.facebook.com/navyskies and www.twitter.com/navyskies

Dudley, West Midlands, United Kingdom.

Name of band:
Left for Red.

Who else is in your band?
Rob Hadley on drums, Aaron Foy on guitar, Phil Smith on guitar and LC Decoy on vocals.

How would you describe yourselves?
Half Ton of Metal.
LFR’s sound is a mixture of Punk, Metal and Rock. Layering powerful melodies and catchy riffs over a thundering rhythm section, this makes you want to sing, dance and beat the crap out of the person next to you.

Who are your main influences musically?
My personal influences are Devin Townsend/SYL, Opeth, Deftones, Mastodon, Chimaira etc. We are all into different styles of music so I am sure they would tell you different.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We want to become the biggest and baddest metal band out there (We are already the biggest just in a different context).

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We have had several highlights in our career so far these are supporting one of my favourite bands from the USA Chimaira they were a massive influence on me when I was younger and got me into the scene that I love, we have also supported some huge British bands such as Revoker and Beholder.
Most recently we won a TNA/KERRANG competition where our music was used on the TNA Road to Lockdown tour, our music was played in some huge arenas around the country and our song is also going to be featured on TNA IMPACT within the next few weeks.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I personally do not want to forget anything, what has happened in the past has built and continues to build LFR.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our most recent single ‘Mercy Flight’ pretty much sums up Left for Red it has melody, heavy guitar and bass riffs and pounding drums.

Another Hell Q&A

Your name:
Kristoffer "Krille" Englund.

Where are you from?
Living Umeå - Sweden.
From Ã…sele a real small town in the far north of Sweden.
Name of band:
Another Hell.
Who is in your band?
Kristoffer "Krille" Englund - Vocals and guitar.
Jim "Jimbob" Edström - Bass.
Olof "Olle" Gardeström - Lead guitar.
Henrik "Samu" Samuelsson - Drums.

How would you describe yourselves?
A bunch of lads that takes life as is and with a big urge telling a different story then the big dudes that runs this world! We are all from this small town Ã…sele that have given us the backbone we fight for! Coming from such a small town one could think our options would have been limited, that has not been the case for anyone of us!
The only downside as in many small towns around the world jobs are the only thing these small towns cant offer it's people anymore. One could say if we hadn't been growing up in Ã…sele we would not have created music!

Who are your main influences musically?
Oh shit, this could be such a long list!
We all have different music styles we fukkin love but there are a few we have in common.
Old bands: Metallica, Pantera, Testament, Prong, Iron Maiden, Machine Head, Entombed list goes on.
Newer bands: Devil Driver, Lamb Of God, Abysmal Dawn, Gojira, In Flames, The Haunted, Meshuggah <- Should be on the old list to!
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We talk about this much in the band!
If we can make ONE person think twice about the world order and
this endless hunt for the holy grail known as success and power then our mission is a success!
But for us it's also about making music that we like and for that you do not need anything more the a couple of lads hammering out shit.
And hell yeah hammer our shit out to a larger audience and having it as a living!
That would be a dream come true, and that is what we try to achieve!
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We don't think that we have gotten there yet, we have had a few shows with a crowd at about 80 - 100 people. The biggest thing if I/we have to say anything we think it must be the response on internet from fans around the world really connecting with us.
So twitter peepz if ya read this \m/ WE SALUTE \m/
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Nothing so far!
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Oh shit this is hard! I think if one listen to our tracks they realize that we have so many styles cooked up in our sound. But here it goes: Capitol Hill
But you really have to listen to more of our tracks. This is impossible hahaha!

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
We would like to thank you for taking a look at ANOTHER HELL!

Eric H Lazar Q&A

Your name:
Eric H Lazar

Where are you from?
I'm based out of the Sacramento area now, originally from all over California.

Who else is in your band?
I'm a one man band these days. I play all instruments/percussion and do all the vocals

How would you describe yourselves?
Straight up Rock'n'Roll with Classic/Rock, 60's/70's influence mainly, also Americana/Roots music. These days I am more interested in writing/recording than I am playing live. Although I enjoy gigging as well, recording/writing allows me to be transported somewhere else and live performances are too much reality. Steely Dan hardly ever toured either. I have been playing/performing music since I was four years old (piano, flute, guitar, etc.) so at this point it's the only thing I can do half decently.

Who are your main influences musically?
Grateful Dead, The Band, Clapton, Black Crowes, Gourds, Old Crow Medicine Show, Pink Floyd, Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings, Allman Brothers, etc.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I'm 40, so my dream of signing with major labels and all that comes with it is long gone. Would just like people to check it out and hopefully appreciate it. Buy a few songs here and there. The social media phenomenon is great in some ways, but has left me a little in the dark about how to sell your music online (without touring, live shows, etc.). It seems I was able to keep up about 5 years ago, so any feedback would be great.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Playing for some great crowds for the past 20 years or so. Opening for David Gans was fun. Doing a pre-event for Journey (which is odd because I'm not a huge Journey fan, but it's a paycheck!)

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
All the bars we played that had three people including the bartender, waitress and doorman.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Tough one. I have a few different styles. Politics of Old, The Lion's Roar, Winter Lullaby, Silverspoon, I'm Your Human Being are all different styles varying from Blues/Rock to  more of a watery melodic style. I also have quite a few instrumentals on each album.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
I'm a prolific songwriter that covers a few different styles, yet all within the same mould. Fans of Classic/Rock influenced music would appreciate it.

The Folk Remedy Q&A

Your name:

Matt Whoriskey.

Where are you from?
Derry, Northern Ireland.

Name of band:
The Folk Remedy

Who else is in your band?
Maria Bonner (vocals, violin) and Rob Ryle (guitar).

How would you describe yourselves?
We are a folk group, heavily influenced by country and indie and we like to think we merge these sounds with a pinch of pop too!

Who are your main influences musically?
There are so many but mainly our influences come from Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Elbow, Neil Young, The Postal Service and Damien Jurado & loads more too!

What do you hope to achieve in music?

Recognition and we want our music to be heard all over. I think we do have something that people like at the moment and it’s a dream of ours to share that.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Our response on twitter, particularly over the last few weeks has been a huge highlight. We’ve received countless followers, loads of radio play and fantastic reviews from lovely, generous people!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

The ride home from a gig in Sheffield a few weeks ago. Travelling over Snake Pass from Manchester and the return leg over some unknown road in the Peak District was one white knuckle ride at 5mph I would like to erase from my memory!  We’ve only been playing together a short while and thankfully nothing disastrous has occurred on stage yet, YET!

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

I would say New York Skyline.  It’s the first song I ever really wrote and it means a lot to me.  Since we formed the band, Rob’s and Maria’s input to this song has made it even more meaningful.  It was written on honeymoon.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
Just to mention that we have an EP coming out in April called Sirens.  It can be streamed from http://soundcloud.com/thefolkremedy/sets/sirens-ep/

We’re supporting Linnea Olsson from Sweden on Friday 8th March too, who’s recently had a 4-star review in Q Magazine, so we’re excited about that!

Burnthru Q&A

Band name:
Burnthru.

Where are you from?
Wiltshire, UK (Devizes & Swindon).

Who else is in your band?
Andy Mitchell - Vocals.
Mitch Underwood - Guitar.
Elmo Jones - Bass.
Chris Constable - Drums.

How would you describe yourselves?
Hard-rock, with a mix of grunge… bordering on metal!

Who are your main influences musically?
Tool, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Pantera.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To play to as many people, and as many places as humanly possible!

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Recently, we played a great show at The Dublin Castle in Camden. We all really enjoyed playing to a new crowd! We're also working with Steve Grimmett (from 80's legend, Grim Reaper) on our new album. He's producing it and we're all learning a lot from working with him.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
During our first show, Mitch stumbled on the only stage light and smashed it - leaving us to play in near darkness! Or when we played a small outdoor festival in Hampshire and Elmo blew up the venue's home made amp!

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
From our EP it will have to be √ (tick)… it's got a bit of everything! But from our latest songs we have a song called 'Faithless' which we think shows exactly who we are! It'll be available soon on our new album!

Where can we listen to it?

Old English Q&A

Your name:
Matt Henderson

Where are you from?
Toronto, Canada.

Name of band:
Old English.

Who else is in your band?
We've got a bit of a rotating cast in this band with around 20 different contributors on record and at shows. But the main group includes Daniel Halyburton (guitar), Justin Taylor (bass), Thom Lesnick (drums), Jarrad Robinson (trombone), Adam Reid (trumpet) and Rob Fernandes (saxophone).

How would you describe yourselves?
I struggle with this question.  I'd say we're primarily a sort of indie electro-pop type band but we have lots of different elements like brit-rock, shoegaze and folk.

Who are your main influences musically?
Too many to list really!  But for this album we've just released I'd say Animal Collective, M83 and Blur were are big influences.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I'm not really sure that we have any sort of end goal in mind. I think we just want to make music that is big and unique and that we like. Sorry that's so vague. I do feel like a lot of bands have big career goals and everything they do, every note they play is scrutinized and judged based on whether or not it will help expand their audience, get them radio play, etc. which i feel would be suffocating. We've never had an agenda like that which has allowed us to be pretty adventurous in our songwriting and production and make the music that we want to make.  Sorry if that sounded pretentious...

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
I think just getting this album done and released. We worked incredibly hard and long on it and we're so thrilled with the final result.  It's exciting to have people finally hearing it and liking it.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
That's a tough one too. We were supposed to have our big album release party a few weeks back but it just happened to be on the same day as the biggest blizzard we've had here in years, so we had to cancel it last minute, which was absolutely gutting.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our sound is pretty varied so picking one is tough but I'd probably say Anchors. It sort of manages to capture our folky sensitive side as well as our louder electronic persona.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
The whole album can be purchased here: http://oldenglishtheband.bandcamp.com

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
Not that I can think of! Thanks!
