Proper English Gentlemen Q&A

Your name:
Edward Cunningham (bassist).

Where are you from:
Based in Nottingham, England, but collectively from all over.

Name of band:
Proper English Gentlemen.

Who else is in your band:
Adrian Abbot (vocals/guitar), Adam Volz (guitar/vocals) and Harry Cooper (drums).

How would you describe yourselves?
We're just four people who enjoy making music together and want as many people as possible to hear and enjoy it. In terms of genre, we're an indie band, but our songs are JUST that. We have songs that are more bluesy, as well as others that are a bit more edgy.

Who are your main influences musically?
We all come from different musical backgrounds, so our influences differ across the band, but some common influences are Brand New, Arctic Monkeys, Foals and The Smiths.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We just want to play as many places and to as many people as possible.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
I think the mini-tour we did in the summer with Not By Design was a great moment. None of us had really done anything like that before, so it was a learning curve for us. Every night was an absolute blast (helped by Harry's impeccable organisation) and we made some great friends along the way.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
We've not really had any moments we'd rather forget. Any bad experiences we've had, we've just seen them as something to learn from. There's no use dwelling on the bad times!

If you could choose one of your songs as an advert for your music, what would it be and why?
Probably our new single 'The Talent'. It's upbeat, dancey, but still edgy.

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
We have our new EP called 'Proper Gander' coming out on 12/12/12 and would love for everyone to check it out! It'll be available on our Facebook, Soundcloud as well as Spotify and iTunes.
