Paul Anthony.
Where are you from?
West
Bromwich (band from Wolverhampton), England.
Band name:
In Denial.
Who is in your band?
Carl Thomason - lead vocals, Paul Anthony - Guitar/Vocals, Joe Jones - Bass,
Wayne Davies - Drums.
How would you describe yourselves?
We are an
alternative rock/metal band with a hard-hitting and in-your-face groove and catchy melodies. Formed in September 2008
by myself and Wayne then later joined by bassist Joe with myself doing lead
vocal and guitar until Feb 2013 when Carl Joined the band and took over on
lead vocals. A few line up changes over the past couple of years saw second
guitarists come and go but have still remained strong none the less. Toured
with some of the Midlands greatest bands such as Left For Red, Valous, Fated
Elegy and Martyr De Mona and have captured the eye of many people and have
built a great following.
Who
are your main influences musically?
Our main
influences are Sevendust, Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Fuel and Disturbed.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We hope to keep
making great music, keep the fans happy and keep on doing this for a very long
time.
What
has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
There has been a
few, the first was being asked to perform our track Enemy at a Pro Wrestling
Show as entrance music for one of the wrestlers in front of over 200 people.
Another was
sharing the same stage with the awesome Enemo J in July 2012 and will be doing
the same in July 2013 also in which myself features as the lead role in their
last video Heaven is my Hell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y82E6gui_QM
Another was
headlining a Biker charity festival on June 8th in my hometown of West Bromwich
in front of over 300 people and the other
was October 2012 when we was asked at short notice to play a support slot for
London-based band Gasoline Thrill at the Tamworth Rockbar, although not a very
big audience, we still had a really great night and meat some amazing people.
And
what’s the moment you want to forget?
Looking back now
it is quite funny, it was when we were a three-piece we was asked to play a support
slot at The Asylum 2 in Birmingham for some Polish/English bands, Metasoma,
Moringstar and Grin in March of 2012. Joe, our bassist, was totally wrecked out
his tree before and while playing the set. He was all over the place jumping on
and off stage, bumping in to myself while I was singing and trying to hog my
mic, knocking Wayne's cymbals over, then smashing his bass off the floor at the
end of the set, in which he regretted the next day heh heh. But in all fairness
he had been to his stepdad's funeral that day, so we couldn't really be too mad
at him lol.
If
you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it
be and why?
The song we'd
choose in my opinion would be Never Ending, which is our current single and is
the last release to feature myself on lead vocals. It is quite a catchy song, a
great melody and driving guitars and drums and is also a fan favourite in which
fans sing a long to it.
