Where are you from?
Antwerp, Belgium.
What is the name of your band?
Set Things Right. We were all in other bands before hand, and all of them
failed due to the lack of ambition from the other members of these bands. In this band, we
only wanted to work with people with the same ambitions, and do things the right way from
the start, and that actually explains our band name.
How would you describe yourselves?
A group of five dudes that put a lot of energy into the
music we make, and who all have the same ambition to take it to as many places, and as far as
we possibly can.
Who are your main influences musically?
Set Things Right is a band with members who take their
inspiration from a lot of different genres. All these musical influences together make this
band sound the way it does. Of course we all like bands like A Day To Remember and Parkway Drive, just to name the biggest bands in our genre, but also some of us get
inspired by bands like Blink 182 or Tool, or even Despised Icon and Seasick Steve.
When it comes to playing music live, we also take
inspiration from great bands like The Chariot or Story Of The Year. We definitely like our sets
to be as energetic as possible.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We want to take our music as far as we can, to as many
places and to as many people as humanly possible. We are all pretty ambitious people with
high hopes for the future, and we're sure as hell not going to back down any time soon.
We hope people know us now and will remember us later as five dudes that always kept being themselves and always did what they wanted to do.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
So far this year we've had a lot of incredible
opportunities; We got the opportunity to record at Outhouse Studios in the UK (Architects/Enter Shikari/ You Me At Six), which was a great experience. We have also recently been
endorsed by Monster Energy. It's absolutely awesome to have their support, we
are really interested to see what the future brings! We are also working with a PR agency called Inception Press, they've really been helping us out a lot in terms of
publicity! In the past we've also played on Jera On air festival in the Netherlands.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
The worst moment we've had as a band so far is Tom’s
illness. He has a rare type of blood illness which hospitalized him for a very long time. We
hope he never has to experience something like this again. We are so glad Tom is doing
better at the moment and we hope he recovers fully. It’s something we will probably never
forget.
If you were asked to pick just one of your songs to
represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our latest single Don’t Close Your Eyes represents the
most where we now are musically. Our inspiration for the song came from wanting
to create a post- hardcore song that wasn't particularly technical, but more of a
catchy song and a natural/mature progression from our previous album The Never Ending Road. We wanted the lyrics in the song to be multi-interpretable, so that
no one took the same meaning from them.
It’s a song that has a bit of everything in it. It's
melodic, it's heavy, it's catchy, and it's got some sing along parts as well. The song really describes
what Set Things Right is trying to make: melodic metalcore written with a
post-hardcore heart.

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I
forgot to ask?
We will be touring soon, and we are in the middle of
writing a new album! We've got a lot of big plans for the near future, and we're really excited for them to
become a reality.
