My name is Giorgio
Benedetti.
Where are you from?
I'm from Brescia, Italy.
Name of band:
Nervecide.
Who else is in your band?
There's no one else but
me.
How would you describe
yourself?
Overactive.
Who are your main influences
musically?
Well, I take influence
from almost all kind of music, rap, metal, classical, jazz, folk, electro...I try to assimilate different approaches because I believe that the more
languages you can speak the more easily you can express yourself.
What do you hope to achieve
in music?
I do this to express myself,
it's a basic need, you know, I sleep, eat, breathe and make music....if what I do can be appreciate from other people it's really great and rewarding, but
please audience and "mainstream" it's not my priority, I'm 36...I don't really care any more to be "the next big thing".
What has been the highlight
of your career so far, and why?
Play in Wacken 2006 and
Heineken Jammin festival 2007 with my previous band Cadaveric Crematorium as independent and underground band without deal, label or promoters....I mean play
in big festivals is cool, I don't need to say why, but if you achieve that just
with sweat and hard work it's priceless, especially because the underground
scene in Italy never believed that we did it that way, pretending we paid money
for playing...envy is a bad thing.
And what’s the moment you
want to forget?
The last months before I left Cadaveric: for some reasons I reached the decision to split after 10 years
of life together, reasons that made me so unhappy about make music and play
guitar, it was very frustrating when your passion become a burden, even because
this affect also the interpersonal relationship with other guys if the
band.
If you had to choose just one
of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Fractal Flood from the
Nervecide debut Impermanence: it represents exactly what I'd like to reach with
my music, it's a fusion of industrial, ambient, tech death metal, it contains a
beautiful Teremin solo (which I think is the first in death metal!) sounds pretty original. I wanna do something that is new, prog, but
without losing an inch of aggression.
Where can we listen to it?
Well, the record is
available for free download at the bandcamp page http://nervecide. bandcamp.com/ and
