Natural Tendency Q&A

Your name:
Ed Taylor (Lead Vocals, Guitar).

Where are you from?
Bristol, UK.

Name of band:
Natural Tendency.

Who else is in your band?
Bec Jevons (Synth, Backing Vocals), Paul Edwards (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Dan Jevons (Bass, Backing Vocals), Chris Taylor (Drums).

How would you describe yourselves?
We categorise our music under the genre "Euphoric Rock" - this sums up the instrumentation we use and the vibe behind Natural Tendency. To explain that a bit further, we play rock music with big riffs and anthemic choruses, but with synths and strings thrown in to add a twist to things.

Who are your main influences musically?
The great thing about NT is that all of us listen to similar music, and yet have our own tastes too. But in general a few of the influences on the band are Muse, Enter Shikari, Young Guns, Biffy Clyro...

What do you hope to achieve in music?
In terms of goals the five of us share the mantra that the sky's the limit, and the passion to make it happen. We think the UK needs the next big rock band to come through - by big we're talking festival headliner, Wembley Stadium. Muse and Kasabian are two of the more recent bands to reach these heights, but we think the industry needs something new and we think we have what it takes. For now though, it's all about building our name and taking the band to the point where we can make a living purely through doing what we love.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We're about to do a sold-out support show with Lower Than Atlantis in Nottingham so that's definitely one to look forward to! We're doing a UK tour in November which we're really buzzed about - we toured back in February too and had some great times. Other highlights so far include releasing our mini-album in 2012 and selling out the Bristol Cooler for the release show, headlining the Bristol Balloon Fiesta to a huge crowd twice in two years, and big support shows with InMe and Spin Doctors.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There's always tough times associated with being in a band - going through line-up changes, playing to six people in a quiet bar...But all of these are just steps along the way, and all of them have helped to shape us for the future.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our track 'Faith' says a lot lyrically about what we believe in and pretty much encapsulates the Euphoric Rock moniker we use.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
www.naturaltendency.co.uk - you can grab our mini-album for free by hitting the "Free Download" button
www.facebook.com/naturaltendency

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
As mentioned above we're out on tour in November - just hit up our Facebook page to see the full run of dates and we hope to see you out on the road! Other than that we're working on our debut album currently and hope that you'll be able to hear some new content from that soon. And also we really dig jelly babies. They made it onto a gig rider once...
