Old punk Dave Rave jazzes it up
CANADIAN musician Dave Rave has released a jazz-influenced album as he looks to record a series of full-lengths in different genres over the course of a year.
Memphis Midnight has been recorded with Mark McCarron, who Dave describes as a "dynamite" guitarist.
Dave told RealSoundsOK: "I’ve always been interested in different genres, even during my tenure with The Shakers and Teenage Head during the first wave of Canadian punk.
"Great music was always great music. I’ve been fortunate to works as a session musician for a variety of projects (Daniel Lanois, Andrew Loog Oldham, Alex Chilton, and many others) and also jump from jazz to folk to rockabilly to punk with my own projects.
"Over the next year I’m planning on tackling projects in all of those genres."
The single Fortunate Boy (Where No One Knows) from Memphis Midnight is being given away for free at daverave.bandcamp.com and you can check out the video above.
