Giskard Q&A

Your name:
Adam Berryman (Guitar).

Where are you from?:
Grimsby, England.

Name of band:
Giskard.

Who else is in your band?
Laura Gale (Vox), James Steer (Synths, Samples), Mark Ramsden (Bass Guitar), Mark Wollington (Drums).

How would you describe yourselves?
We're an electro/metal/rock band trying to merge electronica sounds with live music and hopefully inspiring people along the way.

Who are your main influences musically?
We all have our own personal influences that have shaped our sound:
Laura - Nine Inch Nails, Tool, System of a Down, Placebo, Faith No More.
James - Tool, Helmet, Chris Clark, 90's Rave.
Oz - Helmet, Tool, Deftones.
Mark - Pitchshifter, The Prodigy and Enter Shikari, plus everything from death metal to hip hop.
Adam - Rush, Four Star Mary, Stereophonics, Bear McCreary, The Prodigy.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Hopefully we can continue to make and perform music together for as long as possible as we enjoy every aspect of what we do and with a bit of luck we'll pick up some fans as we go.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Last year we supported The Proclaimers and Simon Townshend and while they are totally different genres to us we all grew up listening to their music so it was an amazing experience for us being able to see them perform and chat to them after the show.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
We've had a gig or two where the attendance numbers haven't been ideal which is always disheartening, but we always enjoy ourselves onstage and get banter going with whoever is there to try and turn it around.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
'64 Odyssey' from our debut eponymous LP 'Giskard' is one that showcases a little of everything, we're always trying new sounds and styles so it's hard to have one that is a complete representation but it comes the closest.  Also it's one we always enjoy playing and crowds react to it very well.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
