Mandelay Q&A

Your name:
Scott Ayo.

Where are you from?
Houma La, about 60 miles west of New Orleans.

Name of band:
Mandelay.

Who else is in your band?
Buddy Benoit - guitars/vocals, Troy Guerrero - guitars/vocals, Jude Chauvin - bass/vocals, Scott Ayo - Keyboards/vocals, Warren Bergeron - drums

How would you describe yourselves?
Our sound is pretty eclectic. No two songs sound the same and we have four guys that can sing lead and/or background vocals. So right now we are feeling out each song's style and let that help us gravitate the decision as to who will sing the lead part. Musically we are in the rock/pop genres. People have told us we sound like a cross between Rush and U2 on some stuff to The Cult, Coldplay and Kings of Leon on other songs. When we write we just play whatever comes out, our philosophy is if it sounds good and jams we are going to play it.

Who are your main influences musically?
Rush, Dream Theater, Pearl Jam, 311,Ozzy,Styx, Coldplay.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To be able to take our music to the masses and to be able to earn a living doing the thing we love the most.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Being we are just starting out, it is simply the reactions of the fans as they listen and get into music that we wrote. Next week we will be playing at the House of Blues in New Orleans which is a nice feather in our cap for being such a new band on the scene.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Enough is Enough is our newest song and seems to be the flavor of the week, lol. Truly, we love all of our songs and feel that as one listens to our album due out in a couple of months they will be taken on a journey through many feelings and emotions.

Where can we listen to it?
www.reverbnation.com/mandelay has a few demos on it to let listeners get a feel for us.
Where can we find out more about your music?
