Philip Crown.
Where are you from?
I'm from Seattle, Washington, USA, but of English descent.
How would you describe yourself?
I'm a pop R&B artist. I venture from true
R&B to pop R&B and dance. I'm a fan of most all popular genres of music
and wish I could crossover into more.
Who are your main influences musically?
My main influences are those of the greats. Just
like anyone else. Figuring out what my sound was, is the hardest thing. It's
easy to copy someone else's style but its most important to find yourself and
where you fit in the mix of things. Elvin, MJ, Jimi and the Beatles are the
main influences from song structure to production, but hopefully by the end of
it people embrace me as having created something original and fresh.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
I hope that people can find something in my music
to connect with. Whether its an emotion such as happiness and joy or a
connection through the lyrics, like I hope people will be able to enjoy with
the upcoming tracks on my new EP. In addition to that I hope that I can be able
to learn more about myself. I hope to be more creative, find new sounds and be
able to create something of impact.
What has been the highlight of your career so far,
and why?
My career is in its infancy so far, but I think the
largest highlight as been the support I've garnered from friends, family, my
city and major artists that are already established in the industry. I've been
doing a lot more recording than getting out there. But I have a lot of good
stuff that will all be shown off this year. I want to get this shtuff out!
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
So far there aren't any. I'm only hoping that it
stays that way as long as possible. I try not to live my life focused on
regrets.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to
represent your music, what would it be and why?
The one song that I would say best represents my
music is probably my first true single off my upcoming UP, Speed of Light. It
reflects on lost love, amazing memories and the fact you'll do anything to get
back someone you've lost or need in your life.
Where can we listen to it?
This track will be available the first week of next
month. I'll have to keep ya'll posted!
Where can we find out more about your music?
Anything else
you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
If
anyone wants to hit me up, I always respond on Twitter! Looking forward to
hearing from people.
