Martyn Cain.
Where are you
from?
The Isle of Man.
Name
of band:
Post War Stories.
Who
else is in your band?
Paul Salisbury
(Vocals & Electric Guitar)
Ben O’Hare
(Drums & Samples)
I play the Bass
Guitar
How
would you describe yourselves?
Our sound is a
blend of dark psychedelic atmospherics with riffs that jump between prog and
doom.
Who
are your main influences musically?
I would say our
main writing influences are Oceansize, Darkstar, Amplifier and Massive Attack,
although we have been compared to Isis and “a stormy night with warm fire and a
glass of something dark” before.
What
do you hope to achieve in music?
If we had any
goals within the band it would be to get our music heard further afield than
just the island and never get tired or complacent in our output.
What
has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
In the short
time we’ve been together we have been fortunate to have a lot of nice reviews
and radio play. Being featured on multiple shows on Amazing Radio was very
cool.
And
what’s the moment you want to forget?
As I say we
haven’t really been together for very long so we have been quite fortunate and
not had many disaster moments, none interesting enough write about anyway.
If
you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it
be and why?
I would have to
say Shame. This track manages to cover the extremes in our volume as well as
covering the dark themes and atmospherics we like to try and deliver in our
songs.
Where
can we listen to it?
You can hear
Shame from our bandcamp postwarstories.bandcamp.com/track/shame
And watch the
video on our youtube channel.
Where
can we find out more about your music?
You can find us
at the following places
facebook.com/postwarstories
facebook.com/postwarstories
Anything
else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
We will be going in to the studio to record the
follow up to Cold Wars in July. Although we don’t leave the island that often
gig offers in the UK or Europe are always welcomed.
