Ted
Slowik.
Where are you
from?
Joliet, Illinois, USA.
Who else is in
your band?
Sometimes friends accompany me at performances,
including keyboardist Rich Westrick and drummer Ron Kostka.
How would you
describe yourselves?
I play mainly original music that could be
described as Americana folk rock.
Who are your
main influences musically?
The Beatles, Warren Zevon, John Prine.
What do you hope
to achieve in music?
To have fun and show continual improvement as a
performer and to leave a lasting legacy as a songwriter and recording artist.
What has been
the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Recording and releasing (in 2014) a debut solo
studio recording, “Comfort Zone.” Learn more at www.tedslowikmusic.com
And what’s the
moment you want to forget?
Oh, plenty. Mostly those times I was a jerk to
other musicians and friends. Just last year I took part in a songwriting circle
and I told a girl who had summoned the courage to perform one of her own songs
that she should be “off book” because she referred to notes on a sheet of
paper.
If you had to
pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
“Record Store,” (https://soundcloud.com/ted-slowik/record-store)
because it’s autobiographical and sums up my attitude about music.
Where can we
listen to it?
Where can we
find out more about your music?
Anything else
you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
Thanks
for your interest! I have a new-found love for life since suffering a
near-fatal heart attack on Feb. 17, 2014 at age 48.
