Mike (Lead vocals/guitar), Mike Spriggs (Lead guitar/Backing vocals), Ck Armstrong (Bass/ Backing Vocals) and Rob Desimone (Drums).
How would you describe yourselves?
Blackdog Ballroom satisfies the universal need to rock and roll. With an eclectic mix of influence ranging from pop to punk, mod
to motown and rock to roll, Blackdog Ballroom have cultivated a distinct blend
to create their unique sound.
This ain't no
symphony; This is a Rock & Roll epiphany - This IS Blackdog Ballroom!
Who are your main influences musically?
We have
been inspired by a wide range of influences but I primarily look to early Mod
bands such as Small Faces, the Who and the Kinks as well as The Jam, Paul
Weller, the Clash, Arctic Monkeys and of course the Beatles!
What do you hope to achieve in music?
Our
goal is to be able to share our music with the world and achieve a level of
success that enables us to fulfill our dreams.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
As a songwriter being named a winner in the "John Lennon
Songwriting Contest" was certainly a personal highlight. Most recently we
secured a slot at Canadian Music Week which is a great platform to expose our
music.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I've
forgotten!! but seriously all moments (good, bad, ugly) help to define who
you are so there are no regrets!
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your
music, what would it be and why?
"Sounds Like Now"
from our upcoming release is a song that showcases the energy that is
Blackdog Ballroom!
