Matt Haddon.
Where are you from?
We're Predominantly from West Bromwich! Which is a dingy town just outside Birmingham, however our drummer lives in Cradley Heath a much nicer area :)
Name of band:
Who else is in your band?
The band currently consists of Zak Stankevitch, our lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Anna Baker is beating the drums for us, and then there's me, Matt. I play lead guitar and do backing vocals. We're currently auditioning new bass players so we'll soon have another member to add to the list!
How would you describe yourselves?
Well, firstly id say we're extremely hard working! Practicing at-least three times a week for at least four hours a time, its hard work but we love doing what we do so it's no problem for us. Secondly I'd say we're striving to be different, it's so easy to put on a rock radio station and think all the bands sound the same, we don't want to be like that, we're branching out and trying to do things that other bands don't and can't do because that's what will make us special!
Finally I'd say that we're all just normal teenagers, we still take A levels and get stressed over exams and like to go out on a weekend, only thing that sets us apart is we like to be playing the shows we go to!
Who are your main influences musically?
What do you hope to achieve in music?
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
For me personally the biggest highlight so far was when we brought out our first demos. When we first started out all the people we knew were sceptical about what we were working on, no one expected us to actually make the band happen like we have, but when we brought out our demos and announced some shows at some good venues, suddenly all the people who were sceptical of us were asking for tickets to our shows and for CDs of our music. It just felt like we'd finally got off the ground and that people realised how fun/serious doing the band thing actually is for us, but we're just starting out, I'm sure there's much more to come!
And what's the moment you want to forget?I know I can answer this question for everyone. It was our first gig at a real rock venue, 'The Roadhouse' in Birmingham, we were supporting the rock covers band '51 Stone' so we filled our set with covers to do this gig, we knew we needed an acoustic song to mix the set up, so we picked 'Wonderwall' by Oasis, it was a mid set song and in general the set was going alright. Starting the song was fine, however, our singer went into the pre-chorus of the song instead of the second part of the verse, this threw off the bass player and myself, at this point things fell apart a bit, it was only about a three-second gap while we regathered ourselves, but it felt like a lifetime. We managed to get through it, I shouted chorus at the guys and our drummer did a cool roll and it all kicked in to the chorus and sounded as good as it possibly could given the situation. It was our weakest gig, and we have vowed never to play Wonderwall again!
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
The song we'd choose that we have out now I think would be Rain. It represents what kinda music we try to play, massive choruses with (hopefully) catchy hooks and technical musicianship where we can fit it in. We just want to set ourselves apart and try to bring back the best of the old music with the best of modern music today. However we have some new songs in our set which we think could definitely rival Rain!
