J.T. Martin (vocals, flute, piano).
Where are you from?
San Marcos, Texas.
Name of band:
Chasca.
Who else is in your band?
Junior
Scott (bass and vocals), Sean Hannon (guitar), Sean Palmer (keys and vocals) and Ian Brooks (drums).
How would you describe yourselves?
Nasty, short, and
brutish.
Who are your main influences musically?
Judy Garland,
Jiminy Cricket, Up With People and Salieri.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
To be unappreciated
in our own lifetime(s)...
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
One time we got a dirty look from a Cher look-a-like. It
was nice to “resonate” with someone.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
We played at
Meryl Streep’s birthday party once and she got drunk and made us feel awkward. Plus she
paid us in bees. They stung us.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent
your music, what would it be and why?
Probably, So Long, Crassus. It has power, drama, pathos and it makes learning about ancient history fun - never get involved in a land war in Asia kids.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
Our website: www.chascamusic.com is replete with all
things Chasca-and it has links to our Facebook, Twitter, etc...Also, we’ve littered
Youtube with countless videos of ourselves doing our dirt live.
Anything else you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
I’d
like to thank you for the interview! Ultimately we’re just a ribald gang of hustling hot dogs.
When we play men glare, women blush, bees swarm, dogs bark...
