Kyle Taylor.
Where are you from?
Widnes, UK.
Name of band:
Sugarking.
Who else is in your band?
Greg Scott, Al Roberts and Jake James Brewer.
How would you describe yourselves?
We usually say 70s and 90s, with a modern edge to it.
70s rock music and 90s is generally our main influence as a band, there's too many bands/artists to
name. But it has to be brought forward and modernised. Or it has no place in the times we're
in. It's hard rock, with a lot thrown in, it's always gotta have a groove. It's loud and fast, quiet and loud. There's a dark edge surrounding it all. It's quite an individual sound, it's what we think is needed these
days in the music industry. A lot of people all over the world are craving something like this. Hopefully
we, Sugarking, can be the output for it.
Who are your main influences musically?
As mentioned before in the previous question, there's
just so many artists/bands we each individually love.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We hope to be able to progress and make a career out of
this. Whilst presenting songs to the world, that hopefully people will love and understand. We want
to make a mark & be here to stay for a very, very long time.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
So far, I'd say as a band career-wise, it has to be our
EP launch, which was a six-track EP titled Dandelions & Soap Shops. We worked very hard on it.
And the feedback has been unreal. We're extremely happy that people are enjoying our music.
The EP launch night was crazy, the venue was packed out.
Everyone was getting into it and singing to their favourite songs. We played for around 85 minutes.
Overall it was really successful night and it was a goal we wanted to achieve, that we could now tick
of the list. And to now keep progressing further.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There's probably been a few certain moments I'd like to
forget, during live shows there's been a few problems in venues, due to sound. That can be pretty
terrible - just got to play through it though. I'm sure each member has their own personal moment.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent
your music, what would it be and why?
I would have to say My Way Or The Milky Way because it's got the groove, the vocal melody is right there at the beginning to get you. It's
got loud and quiet sections. Just in generally a little bit of everything from our sound. But my personal
favourite is the title track Dandelions & Soap Shops and you will just have to listen to that to
find out why.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
Anything else you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
We have new music coming soon, so if you like what you
hear, please keep an eye on us through social networking and come to our shows. We've got a
lot to give.
