Justin Harwood Moss (guitar/vocals).
Where are you from?
Bristol (but grew up in Hampshire).
Name of band:
Dark Energy.
Who else is in your band?
Jon Anning (bass), Joe Clayton (drums). We only recently
lost our singer, Simon, so he is still in our band photos. I’ve taken back the singing role from
him. I wrote most of the songs, so I’m used to that.
How would you describe yourselves?
A classic/progressive/space rock power trio.
Who are your main influences musically?
This is who we like: Neil Young, David Bowie, Pink Floyd,
Rush, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Hawkwind. Some of that stuff shows up in our music. It’s
what we grew up with! Except Joe, who likes 80s synthpop.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We want a cult following – stardom seems unlikely!
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
That day lies in the future.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
A certain gig in Swindon, when my guitar strap became
detached at the start of the very first song.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent
your music, what would it be and why?
A272. Because it’s new. Only available in a live version,
and still rough around the edges (spot the mistakes!), but it may represent where we’re
going.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
Anything else you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
With a bit of luck, we should have our first album out
early 2015. “Dark Energy, Light Years”, coming soon!
