New video from Defeat The Low ahead of album launch

ROCKERS Defeat The Low have unveiled the video for their song Aurora Ave taken from the band's forthcoming debut album.

A Nervous Smile is out on November 17th through Rise Records with the band also heading out on the label's USA tour with Dance Gavin Dance, Secrets and Alive Like Me.

The Aurora Ave video takes cues from the song's lyrics, which quote Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's suicide note.

Vocalist Chris Huaraque told RealSoundsOK: "The song is strongly influenced by an early 90s, grunge-like feeling of nostalgia that I seem to get when I put on a Nirvana, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, or Foo Fighters record.

"The emotion and raw honesty that Cobain expressed in his writings, music, and performances will always be a strong influence on me, as I feel I can relate to a lot of the struggles of a small town upbringing from which seem to drive a lot of that emotion.

"Some of the performance shots throughout the video have a look similar to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit video, such as the smokey and amber-colored tones. We are very pleased with the work Max Moore has done and even more excited for you to get the song stuck in your head!"

The band recorded their self-produced ten-track album at Rain City Studios in their home town of Portland, Oregon.

Huaraque added: "I think that everyone in the band wanted to record a solid rock album that represents us in our most honest form. We feel that each of these songs take on a character of its own, by the message and emotion conveyed.

"Each song is special in its own right, to us, as it’s been a journey writing these songs over the past year. Each song does a good job of conveying our thoughts and feelings throughout this process of becoming friends and bandmates."
