Sanchez 77 Q&A

Your name:
Paul.

Where are you from?
I’m from Birmingham originally but currently in Wrexham.

Name of band:
Sanchez 77.

Who else is in your band?
Alex. He is still in Birmingham.

How would you describe yourselves?
We have a late 70s post-punk/new wave sound but with a modern edge.

Who are your main influences musically?
Wire, early Adam & the Ants, Gang of Four, The Clash.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Generally it is building on what we have and continuing to network and gain more exposure for our music. We released our first EP on October 4th and will look to release a full length album late next year. We’ll be releasing some surprising freebies around Christmas time!

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Sanchez 77 is a new project so having so many songs to release after such a short spell is great. We thought an EP of three songs was a realistic aim, but we will actually have six songs on it.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
In a previous band we were in together, a festival slot got cancelled after our drummer ‘headbutted’ a protruding nail on-stage and had to go to A&E!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
All The Young Hipsters has all the ingredients of what we are trying to do. It captures that late 70s sound but deals lyrically with the modern world and all of its quirks. It’s been ready for quite a few months and we still love it!

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
Our Scribble Republic E.P will be on our Bandcamp at a bargain price for the first month. It will also be available on Amazon, iTunes and Spotify from November 10th.
