The Riot Scene Q&A

Your name:
Jimmy Nelson (guitars Lead Vox).

Where are you from?
Austin, Texas, USA.

Name of band:
The Riot Scene

Who else is in your band?
Erik Salinas (Guitars), Eric Braun (Bass backup vox) and Stephen Miller (Drums Backup vox).

How would you describe yourselves?
We are an energetic rock band with an eclectic array of influences from metal to pop and everything in between.

Who are your main influences musically?
Obviously a difficult question to answer. We are constantly listening and discovering new music and our favorite bands change frequently. I would have to say La Dispute, Title Fight, The Flatliners and The Bronx are definitely in our rotation at the moment.  Of course we love our old school bands as well but there isn't enough time to get into that!

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We strive to bring out a surreal emotional response out of our audience. Getting their feet moving and brain thinking while making them feel the emotion we saturate our music in. As well as constantly writing and pushing ourselves to make our live performances the most memorable and entertaining experiences for our fans. I think what we hope to achieve varies from member to member but bottom line we really just love what we do. We would however love the opportunity to tour more frequently which is our goal for this summer.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Sharing the stage with great bands like The Ataris, Alien Ant Farm and Daytrader has been pretty awesome. We've had the opportunity to work with some great producers and engineers that have taught us a thing or two. But I really feel like the future is the highlight for me. We all know that this is something we are going to be doing for a long time and that's something I've never had with bands in the past. Security and trust in the people around you is rare nowadays.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There was this house party we were asked to play a few years back. It was in a cliche suburban neighborhood and we all kept asking ourselves how this was gonna work cause we are LOUD! We drove all the way down there rolled all of our gear into their house and set up. We literally got halfway into our first song when a cop came knocking at our door and made us stop. lol I remember hearing the cop say that he actually really liked our band which kinda pissed me off even more! The cop was a jerk and made everyone at the party go into the backyard and get patted down. Needless to say their was some illegal substances at that party and some good kids and friends went to jail. I've always felt guilty about that.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I'm sure everyone in the band would give you a different answer to this question but for me it has to be our new single "Infused With Chaos". It has everything I love about this band crunched into it. Some how we stand right on the line in between this aggressive attack and poppy hooks. That's my vote anyway lol.

Where can we listen to it?
http://theriotscene.bandcamp.com/track/infused-with-chaos  feel free to download it for free and share it too!

Where can we find out more about your music?
I know i'm gonna forget some and get hell from my band mates but here are the ones i can remember:
Our website is currently under construction but follow us and as soon as it's up and running we will let you know!

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
Not that i can think of at the moment.  We are going back in the studio this May.  We are recording two more songs.  Hopefully if all goes according to plan by the end of the year we will have released at least 8 tracks independently that we will pull together and release on vinyl!~ I'm excited about that. (^_^)
