Black Hi-Lighter Q&A

Your band name + names:
Black Hi-Lighter is James Poulos (lead vocals + guitars), Mark Reback (drums + percussion), Eric Liljestrand (lead guitars + backing vocals) and David Wright (bass)

Where are you from?
We're currently centered in Highland Park, CA (Los Angeles), but we're originally from New York, and Southern and Northern California.

How would you describe yourselves?
 Loud pop, and/or indie-glam rock.

Who are your main influences musically?
T Rex, David Bowie, Queen, The Cars, QOTSA, NY Dolls, Badfinger.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Have a good time, all the time, loudly.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Being selected the Local Anesthetic Band of the Week by DJ Julie Slater on acclaimed Los Angeles radio station KCSN 88.5FM (http://www.kcsn.org) in November 2011:

Also - Eric produced a top ten album for Lucinda Williams.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Having our amps and stage lights cut out during one of our live sets because we overloaded the circuits. Got them back on in about 20 seconds, but still...
Eric quit his first studio job after an all night session with dance pioneer Arthur Russell and a rapper with no rhythm--who later became Vin Diesel.

If you could choose one of your songs as an advert for your music, what would it be and why?
Bite The Bullet, new song from our upcoming second record, because it's an Echo Park epic

Where can we hear your music?
Listen to our first record here: http://www.tunecore.com/widgets/show/66211
Our second record will be out in early 2013.

Where can we find more about your band?
