Anthony Cauvin (Guitar / Vocals).
Location:
Toulouse, France.
Band Name:
The Shapers.
Who else is in your band?
Nicolas Marinval (Bass /
Back vocals).
Benoit Holin (Drums / Back
vocals).
How would you describe
yourselves?
We are three friends enjoying having fun together and travelling the world. Besides music we
share a passion for extreme sports, so outside of rehearsals you can often find
us at the skate park, or occasionally riding the waves. For us being in a band
is like being in a skateboard team: we travel, we have fun and we perform! The
best life we could have!
Who are your main
influences musically?
We mainly draw inspiration
and style from the surf and skate scenes. Our main influences are bands like Green
Day, Sum 41, Blink 182, Man Overboard, NOFX adding a touch of more old school
punk such as Sex Pistols and The Ramones. We also find inspiration in bands
like Weezer, The Vaccines, The White Stripes...
What do you hope to achieve
in music?
We would really love to
live of our music. Music has become more than a passion for us, we think, we
dream and we live for music. As I said before, we love travelling and
making music, so our favorite activity is touring! Our biggest dream is to be
able to tour the world regularly, and particularly we would love to do the
Warped Tour! If any of you can help us to make this happen, please contact us!
What has been the highlight
of your career so far, and why?
Our strong
will of discovering new cultures and new influences brought us to China and Indonesia
where we toured in summer 2011. We really had a blast! So we decided to come
back to Indonesia for a two-month tour in summer 2012, to promote our first album
"Everybody Needs to Have a Dream". We had the chance to play live on
Radio Show, the most famous music TV show in Indonesia. We also played in some
of the major festivals of the area, sharing the stage with bands like
Silverstein. So yeah, for now, this Indonesia tour is one of the highlight of
our career, but we will do our best to make more crazy things happen!
And what’s the moment you
want to forget?
I think writing this here
is not a good way to forget it ;)
I guess it was during our
second tour in Indonesia. One day I was so much sick because of local food that
I threw up in the car of the event organizer on the way to the show, and I
threw up on stage again. We were just able to play one song only... But we
don’t really want to forget this. Yes it was embarrassing, but all these
moments become good stories and memories.
If you could choose just
one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our song “No Way To Go”
represents our music quite well. It is a raw punk rock song with good energy.
We shot the music video for this song in France, in Bali, and even some parts
in Hawaii.
“Tired of our overbearing
sexy manager who never allows us to have fun, we rebel against her
and run away to Bali, to realize our dreams: Surf, Sexy Girls and Rock'N
Roll !”
This is the story of the
clip that you can watch below ;)
