Delta Will Q&A

Name of band:
Delta Will.

Where are you from?
Outer space.

Who is in your band?
Charles Tilden's body and Lowell Whitty on drums.

How would you describe yourselves?
A space exploration mission and an homage to traditions of folk, blues and alt-pop.

Who are your main influences musically?
LEADBELLY, SON HOUSE, JELLY ROLL MORTON, O.V. WRIGHT, RAY CHARLES, NINA SIMONE, BEATLES, DYLAN, VAN MORRISON, BOWIE, TALKING HEADS, RADIOHEAD, BJORK, THE AVALANCHES, M. WARD, SUFJAN STEVENS, WILCO, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE, ETC.....

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Delta Will hopes to translate his experiences on Earth into experiments in sound, with words. Delta Will hopes to get a little better at this with each try.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Writing and recording this new EP has been the most fulfilling musical endeavour thus far. I felt as though I had now learned enough about humans and their musical traditions to make a record as an honourary human, rather than as an alien pretending to be human.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
All moments of life on my own planet.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I think "Game Change Parade" (from the first EP) is a good introduction. It's a song about starting over from scratch. Musically, the layers build in a manner that sheds light on Delta Will's approach to loop performance.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
