Claudia Garcia.
Where are you from?
San Ysidro, California and
Tijuana, Mexico.
Name of band:
Ruby Clouds.
Who else is in your band?
My little brother Vid
plays guitar and co-produces the music.
How would you describe yourselves and your music?
Somewhere in the freaky
dreamy land between RnB and Rock en Español.
Who are your main influences musically?
Claudia: Los
Aterciopelados, Lauryn Hill, Café Tacvba and José Alfredo Jiménez
Vid: The Strokes and The
Beatles
What do you hope to achieve in music?
I try to make the kind
of music I would love to hear. I hope to be able to move people the way
my favorite songs move me.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We were invited to go
to San Felipe in Mexico to perform at their Latino Music Festival this
year. The show featured a variety of genres and we were representing
Latin Alternative. Everyone was very kind to us and we made great
friends with the local musicians there. The whole experience sealed the
deal in that it confirmed my suspicion that we are doing something right.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
One time we took a
nerve-racking 140-mile drive in the rain from Los Angeles all the way to
Tijuana to play a show and when we got there, it had been canceled (due to the
rain).
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your
music, what would it be and why?
The Road combines my
and Vid’s style really well and almost anyone can relate to it. It’s
about that moment when one snaps and definitively decides to pursue a different
dream.
Where can we listen to it?
