Lindsay O'Mahony.
Where are you from?
Harrow, North London.
Name of band:
Honey Ryder.
Who else is in your band?
Matthew Bishop and Jason Huxley.
How would you describe yourselves?
We play pop music with strong country/folk and rock influences.
Who are your main influences musically?
Fleetwood Mac, Voice of the Beehive, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dire Straits, James Taylor, Oasis, Sheryl Crow, U2…the list goes on and on.
What do you hope to achieve in music? We hope to be able to sustain our career by continuing to grow our fan base and improving with each album. And to keep on loving the journey.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Being invited over to Nashville by Paul Worley, the producer of Dixie Chicks and Lady Antebellum was an exciting time. He heard one of our tracks from our second album Marleys Chains and got us out there to mentor us and hook us up with A-list songwriters. Also performing at The Royal Albert Hall was a pinch me moment and singing live on Radio 2 on the Bob Harris show and also for Terry Wogan have been huge highlights.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
When we played at South X Southwest in Texas we had a technical problem and I had to chat to the audience for what felt like a eternity but was probably more like 10 minutes. I probably should have vacated the stage until further notice but instead attempted a kind of stand up comedienne show….fairly embarrassing to say the least!
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I think it would be 'Dammit I'm in Love Again', for it's vocal harmonies, guitar parts and irony. We don't take ourselves too seriously and this song kind of represents this light-hearted feeling.
