Maja Shining.
Where are you from?
Copenhagen, Denmark.
Name of band:
Forever Still.
Who else is in your band?
Mikkel Haastrup and Dennis Post.
How would you describe yourselves and your music?
Forever Still is a melodic heavy rock band with female vocals.
The music is very honest and emotional. We're passionate about making something that's real and
comes directly from the heart, and we want the listener to be able to feel what we felt when we wrote
it.
Who are your main influences musically?
It's hard to say because it's all very subconscious. Our
biggest influence is our own experiences and emotions, which is what we write from. Musically we
listen to a lot of different music depending on our mood at the time. A lot of the music is outside of our
own genre, which I think is a strength. These days I've been listening to Bring Me the Horizon, Marmozets
and Northlane.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
I hope we can get the music out to everyone who may want
it or need it. We want to connect with people around the world and visit all the wonderful fans we talk
to online every day. It’s one of the most amazing things, getting a heartfelt message from someone, where
the music has made an impact or even a difference in their life. We want to bring that feeling
of hope to as many people as possible.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and
why?
I'll never be able to pinpoint a single highlight, but I
always find it to be a wonderful accomplishment every time we release new music. It's a little piece of our
soul and it's always so exciting to get the fans' feedback on that. We also visited the UK for the first
time this spring, which was something we've wanted to do for a while.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Nothing. Good things, bad things, it's all part of the
journey and a learning experience.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent
your music, what would it be and why?
We create a lot of different styles of tracks, so it's
hard to define ourselves by a single song. And of course it changes with time. At the moment I'd say
"Scars".. It has some really nice, raw riffs and it's emotional and quite dynamic switching between broken up
verses, aggressive bridges, and big melodic choruses. And it's backed up by a self-made music video.
Where can we listen to it?
