Lucy.
Where are you from?
Adelaide,
South Australia.
Name of band:
The Aves.
Who else is in your band?
Thomas, Clair and Tasman.
How would you describe
yourselves?
We sound a bit like four friends playing instruments in a room together at the same time.
We sound a bit like four friends playing instruments in a room together at the same time.
Who are your main influences
musically?
We all have lots of different influences, but we like George
Harrison, David Bowie, Patti Smith, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Drones, The Kinks,
and a bunch of others.
What do you hope to achieve in
music?
We basically want to write some really great songs, play them around the
world, hopefully develop as a band - all that sort of stuff.
What has been the highlight of
your career so far, and why?
A highlight has to be playing an outdoor show
called River Rocks Festival in New York. It was out on a pier on the Hudson,
and had a wonderful vibe. It was our biggest crowd to date (5,000 or so) and everybody
was so cheery. I also got to say, "Good evening, New York!" which
made me feel like a real cool kid.
And what’s the moment you want
to forget?
There haven't been any really horrible moments. We played a show at
a strip club in Adelaide once, with a bunch of heavy metal bands. We were booed
off stage, and it was pretty awful. I wouldn't want to forget it though,
because then I wouldn't have an answer to this question.
If you had to pick just one of
your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
P'raps We Were
Young off our album. It's a good old rollicking tune, and I think it feels like
something that represents us. Lots of guitars, melodies, a crazy guitar solo.
Where can we listen to
it?
