First single from The Tallest Tree

THE Tallest Tree have released a video for their first single Boat.

The duo - Dawn from Dundas, Ontario, and Armando from Mexico City - met when Armando's band The Oats played in Canada. They are now married.

Armando told RealSoundsOK: "Every time Dawn came to visit Mexico City, we would write a new song. We're not sure if the shell shock of getting torn apart at an airport will ever wear off. But now we are joined at the hip and we're getting to do what we love together."

The Dirty Nil want YÜ

CANADIAN loons The Dirty Nil will release their new EP Smite on February 18th on cassette and 10" white vinyl.

In the meantime, you can stream the single Wrestle Yü To Hüsker Dü at bandcamp.

When The Dirty Nil get in touch, it's always an entertaining read but Luke, Dave and Kyle from the band have been forced to reign it in.

They told RealSoundsOK: "At this point we would normally spoüt off a big, often hilarious list. Ümlauts have made this impossible. Ümlauts are a never-ending list."

But they did say you need to listen to the new single at "a motherfücking loüd volume".

You can check out the track below and the band are also heading out on tour later this month and into March. Visit www.facebook.com/thedirtynil to find out the dates.

New single from The Dirty Nil - with aliens

CANADIAN rockers The Dirty Nil have released the single Nicotine from their forthcoming EP Smite.

The video features a talk show, fighting, booze and an extraterrestrial being.

Luke, Dave and Kyle from the Dundas, Ontario, band told RealSoundsOK: "The Dirty Nil relate to aliens because space is awesome. We wrote the Mayan calendar, we’re on a mission of intergalactic sonic dominance, we speak Klingon, Luke’s star-shirts hail the sun gods, we mostly come at night, mostly, fuckin’ space!, riding sand worms ain’t easy, we wake up in random places, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith follow us everywhere, and we want to probe you then lay our eggs in your stomach."

So now you know.

Have a listen/watch to Nicotine below and visit facebook.com/thedirtynil for more on the band.

The Dirty Nil make a plea for you to listen

CANADIAN rock n roll trio The Dirty Nil have released a summer mixtape of covers.

The group from Dundas, Ontario, dropped RealSoundsOK an email to introduce it and their words are much more persuasive than mine, so here they are.

"It’s volume two, in a 25 volume series. After 25, one of us will die.

"We also have a new video. It features people trying to kill us! Now the email has a theme! Death! Our Death! Look!

"The Dirty Nil deserve to die because we’re too drunk, we’re out of catchy nicknames for Kyle, nobody wants to hear our experimental prog phase, too beautiful to live, Luke wore the same shirt for two years straight, we’re basically just a wedding cover band now, we hate everybody, because we slept with your sister, The Replacements are back together so nobody needs another band of drunk assholes, blood sacrifice, and so no one ever sees Dave without his moustache.

"Listen to “Summer Mix-Tape Vol. 2: Covers” at a motherfucking loud volume. Free until the summer ends. Then it goes away forever! Featuring songs by The Misfits, Iggy Pop, Guided By Voices, and Merle Haggard.

"Thanks for always being awesome! Luke, Dave, and Kyle (The Dirty Nil)."

Check it out below.
