Harlow Q&A

Your name:
Kelly.

Where are you from?
Metro Detroit, MI, USA.

Name of band:
Harlow.

Who is in your band?
Lauren – vox / Tomas – Guitar / Kelly – Bass,vox / Kevin - Drums.

How would you describe yourselves and your music?
We are a female-fronted hard rock band based out of Detroit and you can hear metal, punk, pop and rock influences in our music.

Who are your main influences musically?
A lot for each member but you can hear Pat Benatar, Debby Harry and Pink in Lauren's Delivery vocally and the rest is everything from Sabbath to Bring Me The Horizon.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We would love to be able to do this as a living and tour as much as possible or as much as the fans will want us to.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
There have been a lot of them but we focus on making each show a highlight for all those in attendance and for us on stage every night.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
There has been a few of them but we don’t let ourselves look towards the past as we head forward.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Ooooh tough question. Our first single off this album is called “Shattered” and we have a video out on YouTube for it. We selected it because it sets the tone for the album about breaking down and finding your independence. My personal favorite is either Leech or Home.

Where can we listen to it?
You can go to www.harlowband.com and listen to the track and see the video.

Where can we find out more about your music?
As mentioned before you can go to www.harlowband.com and you can find us on Facebook, Twitterbandsintown, Reverbnation and YouTube.

Anything else you’d like to say about your music that I forgot to ask?
We love what we do and we value each and every one who supports local music scenes for allowing us to come out and be a part of yours… Get out to a venue, support bands, buy merchandise and CDs and let's rage!!! Thank you for the opportunity to tell people about us!

Panama Sunrise Q&A

Your name:
Dan Westall.

Where are you from?
Harlow, Essex.

Name of band:
Panama Sunrise.

Who else is in your band?
Connor Coles, Joel Cullen and Lee Howard.

How would you describe yourselves and your music?
Four young bucks that decided to try and make music they would actually want to listen to on the radio. This music ended up being catchy, punchy, melodic indie rock bangers.

Who are your main influences musically?
Arctic Monkeys, The Hives, Kings Of Leon, Robbie Williams.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Everything. As much as possible. Anything. Would love to play Reading Festival as we've all been there numerous times over the years.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Selling out our first show which ended up being one of the busiest nights the venue had held in the last 10 years. Have just been asked to headline the same venue this December.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Ironically, forgetting the lyrics to half the second verse in our last song. Haha.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Ticking Away. If you were stuck on a desert island with that on repeat, you'd be so pumped by the tune that you'd have a raft built in 24 hours.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
EP available on Itunes, Spotify & Apple Music.

Anything else you’d like to say about your music that I forgot to ask?
You'll love it.

Tenek Q&A

Your name:
Geoff Pinckney.

Where are you from?
Born in Harlow, Essex, but now live in West Sussex. I'm drawn to places that have the word SEX in them!

Name of band:
Tenek.

Who else is in your band?
Mr Peter Steer.

How would you describe yourselves?
Individuals who share a love of electronic music throughout the decades since the late 70s and have come together as Tenek with the intention of bringing our own brand of rock tinged electronic music to a wide and enthusiastic audience.

Who are your main influences musically?
I'm an 80s kid at heart. Enjoying the sounds of Gary Numan, Ultravox, Simple Minds, Talk Talk, Thomas Dolby, Tears for Fears, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, Shriekback, Fad Gadget and Yello to name just a few. A big fan of Trevor Horn and Steve Lipson's production in the 80s with bands like Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Propaganda. Currently enjoying the output from bands like White Lies, Recoil and Nine Inch Nails.  Current favourite producers are Alan Moulder, Flood and Ed Buller. Favourite film music composer Hans Zimmer. I love music that has depth, atmosphere and emotion.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To be recognised for writing, recording, mixing and producing music of a high standard. Getting more of my music used in adverts or major films and to continue to do it as a full time profession until I go deaf or die or something.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Getting one of my tracks used on the Jim Carrey / Ewan McGregor film, 'I Love You Phillip Morris' and seeing my name in the closing credits. Allowing myself the opportunity to be a full time songwriter and producer.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Tenek gig in Braunschweig, Germany 2011. The worst, most tech problem riddled Tenek gig ever!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Difficult choice but I'd go for 'If I Should Fall' as it was the track that was the catalyst for forming Tenek and it incorporates all the elements and influences that continue to be a part of every Tenek track.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
Yes, we're currently working on our new album, 'Smoke and Mirrors' for release sometime in 2014. We thought it amusing to have thought of the title before actually writing the music. Imagine it done and all the rest will fall in to place :)
We have also set up the re-issue of our EP1+ and it is now available for pre-orders via tenek.bandcamp.com/album/ep1
