Just me and Fedor Borowsky (drums).

How would you describe yourselves? 

We play metal.

Who are your main influences musically? 

Norwegian/Finnish black metal and Finno-Ugric folk music.

What do you hope to achieve in music? 

I see no point in such hopes so there are none.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? 

Recently we got the 1st place in the Russian Google Play chart, and 7th in iTunes.

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

There are just too many of these, really.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? 

As the first pick I’d recommend “Virgo Mitt”. It has some nice hardcore drive, black metal and catchy folk themes. The second one would be “Red Snow”. It has everything.

Your name:

My name is Vif Nüte and I'm singer-songwriter and synth-player.

Where are you from?

It's complicated. Too long story to tell here. Currently we're living in Saint-Petersburg, Russia

VEiiLA.

Who else is in your band?

We're a duo. The second member is Bes Eiredt, producer and synth-player.

How would you describe yourselves and your music?

I think I'm pretty unstable and a little too emotional. Even if you see me calm there's probably a tempest inside. This is absolutely reflected in our music

Who are your main influences musically?

I'm always searching for something new to inspire me. It'd be a very long list of artists to name all of them. I think all music I have in my player influenced me one way or another. The latest update for my playlist included the new releases from Sohn, Royksopp, Lykke Li and Charlie Winston.

What do you hope to achieve in music?

I think my hopes are no more different to any emerging artist's. It's about becoming known and wanted. In long term I want to stay open-minded as long as it's possible. All the other achievements are just a matter of hard work.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

VEiiLA is too young project to highlight something. We played at a couple of festivals and released the first single just a month ago. Before we had another musical projects with relatively high level of success but I'd like to keep it to myself. Thinking of VEiiLA as a pure, brand new start gives us the feel of lightness and energy.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

What I want to forget must be forgotten. Recalling it is counterproductive, isn't it?

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

There is only one released song for this moment. It's our first single Animal that we have picked to be the first because it perfectly fits our emotional state for now. This song is a reflection of my inner hurricane.

Cooper Phillip Q&A

Your name:    

Cooper Phillip.

Where are you from? 

Moscow, Russia (now living in Los Angeles).

How would you describe yourself and your music? 

I would love to tell you how much of a diva I am, but the truth is I am very humble, down to earth, and full of joy. I of course have my diva moments as any good songwriter and performer should, but I truly love music and what I do. Through the use of live instrumentals including the piano and guitar I create soulful pop music with urban elements.  

Who are your main influences musically?

I started out as a classically-trained musician. I love Tchaikovsky, Italian opera, and the symphony. Because of this my songwriting is classically influenced. More current influences are Stevie Wonder, Kim Burrell, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. 

What do you hope to achieve in music?  

My goal is to positively influence the world around me through the telling of my personal journey which has included both struggles and joys. Being on stage, in front of adoring fans, is exhilarating and inspiring. It fills my heart with joy to be able to connect with my fans which makes me feel successful. I think my fans can relate to my story which makes their connection with me stronger. 

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?  

The highlight of my career thus far has been the release of my first music video Silence, of which I wrote. It was directed by Scott Nathan, a notable celebrity photography and videographer. And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

There aren't any moments I would want to forget as even the hardest moments were learning opportunities. We are the sum of our experiences and I would never want to change the person I am today. 

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

Silence without a doubt as it tells the story of me becoming a stronger woman and better human being. As I said before, I have always been connected to the piano on a very deep level and this song was my ballad to the world.

Band name:

Magner Tales. The word "tales" in the name can be read both a noun and a verb. Like this :)

Where are you from? I'm from Russia, Saint-Petersburg. It's rainy town with kind people.

Who is in your band? Hm... let's think... me, and me, and me, and Cubase. Me on guitar, me on keyboards, me on bass guitar, me on vocals, Cubase just plays all I do :)

How would you describe yourself? I don't like to describe myself, so I let others do it. I may only say, that I am enthusiastic and easy.

Who are your main influences musically?

I list some of: David Sylvian, The Blue Nile, Jane Siberry, Tinavie (Russian band), Joni Mitchell, Kimbra, Emery, some Japan music like "Anzen Chitai – Suki sa". Is it enough?

What do you hope to achieve in music?

I want to sing to people my stories, my thoughts. I want my songs to touch souls of people and I want to be popular at least as well as The Blue Nile. There is relatively small percentage of people in the world who love them. Think, these achievements are the best for an artist or a band.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

When I realize that people do love my oeuvre. Besides the music, I write poems (most in Russian, but I'm working on translation), so I'm a kinda poet. Maybe, it sounds funny but, yes, I write poems, and do it well. At least, it seems to me so, ha-ha :)

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

There are no moments I want to forget. Every second is important and precious, every moment is experience.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

I'd represent one of the songs from an album that I working on, because it's fresh and interesting. By the way, I will release a single from an album soon, so stay in touch!

Just a short poem. It's called "Be my dream".

Be my genuine vivid dream, be as the air or a glint of a snow. Be full of stars, be a vernal stream, a secret of seas with no visible coasts.

Be as a swan in the morning sky colored in sapphire of purest sample; swan that falls in a dawn of July, falls as a dew is slightly trembling.

Be as a spotted gracious bobcat or a mirage not similar to you.

Is it a trouble for you?

Biting Elbows unleash new video

WONDERFULLY titled Russian Punks Biting Elbows have released the hyper-violent video for their new single Bad Motherfucker.

It is the follow up to 2012's The Stampede, which racked up more than two million views on YouTube.

Shot for the most part in a huge factory in Moscow, and partly in The Alps, Bad Motherfucker took a full nine days to shoot, using a team of five stuntmen and a team of 40 friends. 

The shoot - literally - was not all that smooth. Frontman Ilya Naishuller appears as a bad guy in the opening scene and is shot by an AK-47 seconds later. 

The AK was loaded with blank rounds but due to mistiming the action, Ilya was shot from too close a distance causing paralysis to half his face and damaging his ear. Fortunately, he made a full recovery.

And he was well enough to talk about the track. He said: “Lyrically, it deals with my dislike, but at the same time my awe, of clichéd rock stars, young and old, who pull off the trick of keeping forgiving fans invested in them, easily making them gobble up whatever the supposed 'Sons of Rock 'N' Roll' throw up their way. 

"We're excited to present what is our first foray into implementing electronic sounds and samples. We're pleased with the result and I think that we will be experimenting like this a lot more in the near future."
