Eclectic! The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, ELO, Pink Floyd, The Black Crowes.

What do you hope to achieve in music?

For people to listen to, and enjoy, the noise.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Being played across the world on internet radio stations and getting fantastic feedback. It’s cool to have been listened to in LA!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

There isn’t one. It’s all a blast.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

It’s difficult to pick just one as all of our songs are about different things and represent different ideas. That said Hillside is one which is great fun live.

New album from The Birdman Rallies

ALT-indie band The Birdman Rallies have released their new album Real River.

It was written, recorded and played almost entirely by frontman and songwriter Daniel Webster over the course of 2014.

He told RealSoundsOK: "On Real River, each song takes a situation and seeks to explore a segment of that world. Real River was never intended to be a whole album, but as the ideas gained momentum and a cohesive sound emerged, it took shape.

"The title was taken from a lyric meaning to jump into the real rather than the metaphorical river; doing it rather than just talking about it."

New video from Road To Horizon

POST-hardcore quarter Road To Horizon have released the video for Faultlines.

The track is taken from the EP of the same name due for release on October 20th.

The Yorkshire, UK, band are heading out on tour to support the release with Newcastle rockers EnterTheLexicon.

It kicks off on October 16th in Newcastle, before taking in Birmingham, Leeds, London, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Cold Summer deliver new track

POST hardcore band Cold Summer today released their track Car Crash (In Progress), which is taken from their forthcoming album due out in early 2015.

Follow the release of EPs Transitions and Wake during 2012, the band self-released their eponymous debut album in July 2013 and have since toured with the likes of Funeral For A Friend and Blitz Kids.

The Leeds outfit are currently recording the follow up with producer Mike Bennett (Empires Fade, Eyes Of A Traitor, The Ocean Between Us).

Faultlines EP on the way from Road To Horizon

POST hardcore five-piece Road To Horizon will release their EP Faultlines on October 20th.

The Yorkshire boys caught the attention of BBC Introducing in Leeds with their Chapters EP in 2013 and have gone on to share the stage with the like of Heart In Hand, The Defiled and Funeral For A Friend.

Faultlines was recorded with Lee Batiuk (While She Sleeps, Deaf Havana).

Where are you from? 

Leeds in the grim north of England.

Name of band: 

Marsicans (MAR-sih-cans).

Who else is in your band? 

Olly plays guitar and sings a bit, Matty plays drums and sings a bit, Rob plays bass and sings a lot.

How would you describe yourselves? 

Upbeat indie meets dirty pop.

Who are your main influences musically? 

Vampire Weekend, Little Comets, Bombay Bicycle Club.

What do you hope to achieve in music? 

To destroy the world or, failing that, to make good music that people hear and like and come to hear us play.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? 

Finding out on the same day that we were playing Leeds, Reading and Bingley Live festivals.

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

We were put on last at an out-of-town Battle of the Bands comp in the early days. It was partly based on audience vote but we hadn't brought anyone along. We proceeded to have far too many beers and were pretty smashed by the time our slot finally rolled around. We were trying to get through it the best we could when out of nowhere drummer Matty, operating on a different level, launched into an extended, unscripted drum solo like a man possessed. We wanted the ground to swallow us up as the whole set descended into chaos but there was no stopping him! Bizarrely the judges must have been in the same state as Matty because they were standing on the tables by the end. They gave us first prize but mercifully there have been no further drum solos.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? 

Chivalry because we're about to release it.

Tom Gee Band next up Ont' Sofa

ONLINE music channel Ont' Sofa have revealed details of the next release in their string of live EPs.

Tom Gee Band Live Ont' Sofa was recorded at the Leeds Corn Exchange and is out now, available to buy on iTunes.

Live Ont' Sofa was born from an idea by Ben Davis and Jason Odle wanting to showcase new talent by travelling across the UK to set up pop-up gigs and recording them.

What do you hope to achieve in music?

To summon Kurt Cobain from the grave.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

It was the summer of 92. The grunge movement was really starting to make an impact on the music industry. We were on tour with Nirvana and Dave told me he like my shoes. It was the happiest I’d ever been...

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

...until he said ‘NOT!’

Your name: 

Abbigail Smith.

Where are you from? 

Leeds, England.

Stage name: 

Eja.

Who else is in your band?

My producer Mark Stainburn.

How would you describe yourself?

I would say Eja is really fresh to the mainstream industry. The sound we create focuses mainly around pop but there are hints of other genres such as rock and dance music that appear throughout our work. I personally enjoy listening to many styles of music and I think this has had a major influence on the music I write. We are currently working on a 4/5 track E.P full of original tracks to release to the public at the end of this year/beginning of next. Who are your main influences musically? 

Blink 182, Paramore, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, The Used, Fightstar, Lifehouse, 30 Seconds To Mars, Bon Iver, Daughter, Drake, Evanescense, Ellie Goulding, Florence & The Machine

What do you hope to achieve in music? 

Where to begin!? I hope to achieve great things musically throughout my life. I would love the opportunity to work with major record labels/producers, songwriters and other fellow professional musicians within the industry. I would really like the opportunity to tour and spread my music across the world, perform at major festivals across the world, gain international radio and television broadcasting recognition and importantly I want to be able to use my music as a platform to change other peoples lives for the better.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Shooting my latest music video for my single 'Free' I had the opportunity to work with Candu Media (who recently shot the latest Kaiser Chiefs video, coming home) who were a professional, friendly team who helped me plan, create and achieve exactly what I wanted for the video. I had the opportunity to work with TV director Neil Shand, BBC cameraman and go-to guy Mike Buttery. I also had a personal make up artist and godsend Faye Robertson, she was fantastic to work with and kept me going on the day. I felt like shooting this video was a big step in the door to achieving my musical ambitions. 

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

Falling over on set during 'Free' music video mid run!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

At this current moment in time it would be Free. I would pick this song because it was my first single with my first video and presents a full image of Eja.

It is the first release from a new batch of songs recently recorded by the band from Leeds, England, under the auspices of producer Mickey Dale (Embrace).

Cold Summer head out on the road - in wet winter

POST hardcore outfit Cold Summer are hitting the road later this month on a UK tour supporting their recent album release.

After self-releasing two EPs during 2012, the band from Leeds, England, put together their self titled LP with the help of Bob Cooper (Nai Harvest, Hawk Eyes, Ginger Wildheart).

That was released last July and the band also spent 2013 with support slots for the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Lemuria and Blitz Kids.

The 2014 tour sees them start off in Workington on February 15th, followed by dates in Corby, Stockton-on-Tees, Preston, London, Bath and finishing in Worksop on the 21st.

New single from indie kids The Concetines

INDIE four-piece The Concetines have released their new single Diyelle.

The band have been playing shows around their home city of Leeds and the surrounding area of Yorkshire, supporting the likes of Various Cruelties and The 1975, as well as playing at Live at Leeds last year.

The track was recorded by Darren Brookes and Eliott Parsons and the band told RealSoundsOK: "It's based around a wistful nostalgia for warm weather and being youthful, with a dash of young love thrown in for good measure."
