Who is in your band?

Members are Matt Warface (vocals and main songwriter), Lou (guitars), Matt Whitehead (keys) and Alex Whibs (drums).

How would you describe yourselves?

The music is founded in my love of 80's synth pop but with a much more current and darker edge. Kinda a cross between Depeche Mode,  Kasabian and Muse. We are all very laid back guys and we like a good party but I do have a very serious side too. I'm a bit of a control freak. Animal lover. I love to paint. Lou is a great chef. Matt Whitehead loves to DJ. Alex loves women. 

Who are your main influences musically?

Influences for me are the brazen attitude of Jim Morrison, Josh Homme is an amazing and inspiring musician, I love Prince. Too many influences to mention really. Love all music. 

What do you hope to achieve in music?

We want are basically to be as big as bands such as Muse or Coldplay. Music is everything to us. Our be all and end all.  

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

The song that most represents us I'd say is "To Die For". I'm most proud of this track.

That's pretty much it. All I really wanna say is I hope anyone reading this enjoys the tracks. It's a bit different from the current norm but still with a dark pop sensibility. It's a labour of love.

We’re fortunate to be part of a growing underground scene of electronic musicians in Nashville, Tennessee.

How would you describe yourselves and your music? 

We’re an independent synthpop duo with electro-industrial and darkwave undertones.

Who are your main influences musically? 

We're influenced by a variety of artists. What do you hope to achieve in music? 

The same thing that every artist wants to achieve - creative acceptance and validation. 

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? 

The outpouring of support we’ve received from the international online music community of alternative DJs, bloggers and fans. Hearing fans say they’ve listened to our album nonstop and they absolutely love it makes us feel like we’ve created something special. It’s great to see that so many people around the world are connecting with our music. We'll be scheduling a tour soon and hope to meet all of our fans in person.

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

The necessary evil of working day jobs to make this possible.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? 

Control is a good representation of the overall feel of our debut full-length album, Edge of the World. One of our fans described the song as “the greatest madcap ’80s synthesizer throwback you never knew you absolutely had to have in your life". It's also featured as the theme song for a new '80s-themed sci-fi web series launching this summer called Doctor Beyond and the Agents of ABOVE. It’s narrated by Samantha Newark (the iconic voice of the original Jem from the original cartoon, Jem and the Holograms), who also lives here in Nashville. 

The story follows four remarkable women and their allies in 1987, working to understand new strands of superscience and fight off those who would abuse it. Where are you from? 

I am from Louisville, KY. Gerald Josef is from Nashville, TN.

PreCog.

Who else is in your band? 

Just Gerald and I, although we are looking to do some collaborations later this year though! 

How would you describe yourselves? 

We are a synthpop/darkwave duo with a moody orchestral edge. We have been described many times as a modern Depeche Mode, which is probably the best compliment I have ever received while alive on Earth.

Who are your main influences musically? 

That is a tough question, our music tastes and influences have a really broad spectrum.  However if I had to single it down to just a few key bands it would be bands like Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, OMD, Dan Black, Active Child, & Tori Amos.

What do you hope to achieve in music? 

Honestly just to make music that people enjoy, and be able to connect with others because of it. Hearing someone say they love your music or that it has moved them in some way is a huge thing.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? 

We are a really new project (only three months old) so nothing huge has happened for us yet. As far as the coolest thing so far i would say all the lovely feedback from our fans. It really encourages us to keep on moving forward. 

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

Nothing as of yet, but why would you want to forget anything. You wouldn't be able to grow as a band or a person in that matter if you just forgot the bad things in life/career.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? 

I would say Feast because it was the first song Gerald and I did for this project. It really captures all the feelings/vibes we wanted for PreCog.

My name is Mark Mendieta.

Where are you from?

I am from Brownsville, Texas.

Who else is in your band? 

This is a solo project.

How would you describe yourself?

As for me personally, I would describe myself as a thinker, doer, and perfectionist. As for my project Transcend with Time, the music can best be described as progressive New Age/ambient. I tend to draw inspiration from personal events thus adding an intimate element to the music, but all entwined within the New Age/ambient spectrum.

 

Who are your main influences musically?

My main influences are Dream Theater, David Arkenstone, Symphony X, and Jon O’ Bergh.

What do you hope to achieve in music?

Well, I am not going to lie, but I would like to make a name for myself within the music business; however, if I never achieve that type of success, that’s okay.

I would also enjoy the opportunity to make music for films, TV, games, etc. as I really believe my music coincides with those formats.

Another would be having my music connect with fans. For me personally, one of the biggest satisfactions I take is when listeners/fans compliment me on my music. That itself is what being a musician is all about.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Well, I would have to say still being a musician. Being that I started this project in 2006 and having released six albums to this date is an accomplishment itself, but being an independent artist is very difficult these days. You have to be musician, promoter, etc., but I would not trade this for anything. Music is my passion, and I will continue doing it until the desire is no longer there.

Another highlight would be that Transcend with Time’s music has been featured worldwide in stations like New Age Stars, Syndae, Night Tides with Renee Blanche, Radio Mystic, Sirius XM “Chill” channel, etc., and my latest album When Emotions Fade was awarded the Best Alternative New Age Album of the Year at New Age Music Odyssey (http://btfasmer.com/2013/12/29/best-alternative-new-age-music-album-2013/)

All the tragedy I’ve been through...

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

It would have to be the song As The Angels Tread from my 2012 album The Calling Whisper. I definitely believe that song displayed all of the traits that can be found within my music. Emotional, dramatic, intimate, but most importantly, heart-felt.

How would you describe yourselves?

The Actions are an alternative rock female-fronted band influenced by trip hop, dark wave and psychedelia.

Who are your main influences musically?

Hendrix, Portishead, Doors, Morricone, Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Tricky, Massive Attack, Beatles, Sara Vaughan, Janis Joplin, Zeppelin...

What do you hope to achieve in music?

We'd like to keep on making music that makes us feel satisfied, to keep on researching artistically and playing live…a lot. Silty says: "One day I'd like to buy a house with my music income".

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Well, there have been a few. Opening for big names like R.E.M., GREEN DAY, GARBAGE and playing in stadiums in front of wide audiences are certainly things to remember. Another good highlight in The Actions' career is when our first single "The Real Thing" was included in the original soundtrack of the MTV US' movie "My Super Psycho Sweet 16" together with acts like Limp Bizkit and Chumbawamba.
We're also really proud of present achievements. We've been introduced by Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 Music last 28th of April during his "Introducing Mixtape" show after being one of his Fresh Faves (Batch 103) with our new single "The Echo", first track of our brand new "Indefensible EP".

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

We were the opening act for Vasco Rossi, the biggest Italian rock act, during his summer tour. Date one, Arechi stadium, Salerno, South Italy. We kicked off right after being presented and just after a couple of minutes the guitar sound went totally off leaving bass and drums in a pretty essential groove with no harmony at all! After a few minutes of bass/drums/vocals semi-improvising I decided to bypass my pedalboard forgetting about my well-crafted effects and plugged my guitar straight into the JCM 900 head giving the all set a more "calssic rock" twist…the day after my pedalboard worked perfectly…mistery of modern technology!!!  

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

I think "The Echo" because it's the single that best describes our "cross-breeding" sound.
