New Excuse Q&A

Your name:
Joe L-Cook.

Where are you from?
Sevenoaks, Kent, England.

Name of band:
New Excuse.

Who else is in your band?
Luke Wyatt: vocals.
Jake Norburn: drums.
Tom Hocking: synth/piano.
Jamie Robertson: bass.

How would you describe yourselves?
Five piece pop-punk band with a slight heavy electronic side.

Who are your main influences musically?
Muse, Mallory Knox, Enter Shikari, Red Hot Chilli Peppers to name a few.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To get our thoughts out there to the world, and maybe even change people’s perspectives on their lives.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Either supporting The Funeral Suits on their 2012 UK tour or going into the studio to record our debut EP Smile You’re Not Dead.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
When playing a show at the Tunbridge Wells Forum, Joe forgot his capo and we had to skip a song... so f****ing embarrassing.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our track ‘lovebites&fistfights’... it has the best mix of everything we’re trying to put into our music, lyrically and musically.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
We are in the process of writing another record as we speak, trying to incorporate a more varied selection of sounds. Keep your eyes on our Twitter for latest updates.
