Nishe Q&A

Your name:
Giovanni Zappa.

Where are you from?
I was born in Italy, spent some time in Kenya and now live in London, UK.

Name of band:
Nishe.

Who else is in your band?
Harold Wilson (Australia) - Bass
Thomas Romer-Smith (UK) - Drums

How would you describe yourselves?
We are an alternative-rock band with an indie background, mixing engaging grooves and energetic riffs, eclectic sounds and catchy melodies. I’d say the best way for people to find out is to come to our gigs!

Who are your main influences musically?
Mainly Kasabian, Muse, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Kooks, Bob Marley, as well as many other artists and bands from different places and eras.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We’d like to be inspirational, delivering emotions to as many people as possible, writing songs that mean to people what the songs that we love mean to us.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Recording our EP “This Is Nishe” was definitely a great achievement, especially after all the hard work we did to get such a result. Studio time is very challenging and really improves your skills as a musician, giving a clearer sight of your own style and what you really want to get out of it, so we’re glad that we could experience that.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I don’t think there’s been one yet, and also every moment of our career so far made us what we are, so we couldn’t complain

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Each of our songs has different facets, and I always try to keep an innovative approach during the songwriting process, but if I had to pick just one out of our EP it would be “This Time” as it features all the major elements of our music and style: catchy melodies, gritty vocals, some reggae inspired grooves, psychedelic bits like the intro and the guitar solo, a pinch of electronic sounds when the synth comes in during the drop…

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?
