The Gateless Gate release fifth recording

POST-rock act The Gateless Gate have released new album Near North.

It is the fifth recording by Canadian Allister Thompson under this guise, but the first with partner Teri-Lynn Janveau, a classical pianist.

Allister told RealSoundsOK: "The recording is a musical travelogue through the wilderness of our province in Canada, a vast, sparsely populated natural area.

"The music was influenced but such ambient masters as Harold Budd and Steve Roach, but also by such musicians as Popol Vuh, Arvo Pärt and Klaus Schulze. However, there are also strong folk, new age and psychedelic influences."

The 70-minute album is available at thegatelessgate.bandcamp.com and for more on the band visit thegatelessgate.net

In addition to making music, Allister also writes about it on his blog makeyourowntaste.wordpress.com
