Your name: 
Kat Eaton.

Where are you from? 
Born in Cardiff, raised in Sheffield, now living in London.

Who else is in your band?
I’m a solo artist but I have some amazing musicians who play with me. Between them they’ve worked with Tom Jones, KT Tunstall, Ray Davies and Beverly Knight so I’m pretty lucky.

How would you describe yourself?
Ultimately I’m a soul/blues singer but I love any good song regardless of genre.

Who are your main influences musically?
I’m influenced by all genres but mostly blues and soul. Some of my favourite singers are Donny Hathaway, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Aretha, Stevie Wonder and Joe Cocker.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To carry on making good music and playing it to as many people as possible who want to listen! The main thing I love about singing and writing is when someone tells me that my song has moved them or inspired them. The more people I can reach, the more people I will hopefully connect with and the happier I’ll be.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Being played on Weekend Wogan on BBC Radio Two. It was the first time any of my music has ever been on national radio!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I threw up in my mouth on stage once after eating too much. I swallowed and carried on singing! The show must go on!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
‘Giving It Up’ because it’s a song I love singing and I never get bored of it. That’s why I chose it for my single.

My Favourite Runner Up release video for Never Again

POP punk quartet My Favourite Runner Up have put out their new single Never Again.

It is the second track to be taken from the Welsh band's 2014 album Crossroads.

MFRU also begin their UK tour tomorrow (Monday) in Manchester, followed by shows in Derby, Birmingham, Leicester, Norwich, Tywyn and London.

Title track video from Harper

ALT-pop songstress Harper has unveiled the video for Velvet - the title track from her debut EP.

The video was directed by Ben Newbury, whose previous credits include Ellie Goulding's Beating Heart and has worked with the likes of Laurel, UNKLE and Dan Croll.

The Velvet EP was produced by East London-based Harper herself with help from ICU Label head Elliott Govinden and production team Eagleye.

Debut EP from Harper

HARPER has released her debut EP The Velvet via the ICU label.

It's accompanied by the release of the title track and follows her debut track Island.

Harper - aka Bristol-born, Welsh-raised and London-based Sam Harper - has spent most of the last year writing, recording and developing her sound.

The EP was produced with the help of ICU boss Elliott Govinden and Eagle Eye duo Day Djan Jr and Ashton Foster (Little Mix, Pixie Lott, Conor Maynard).

Name of band: 

Red Room Therapy.

How would you describe yourselves?

We're a groovy grungy rock band from the Welsh countryside.

Who are your main influences musically?

Anything from Pearl Jam to Puddle of Mudd, with a LOT in between! 

What do you hope to achieve in music? 

There are a lot of things we want to achieve. Ultimately we want to travel the world and make a hell of a lot of music. 

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

We recently played Sound City festival in Liverpool, which was one of the best weekends of our lives.We're about to play the main stage at TT week on the Isle of Man so that might take the throne by the time this is published!

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 

The moment we all turned up wearing the same jackets. Nightmare.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why? 

All In The Mind. Even the title alone sums up the kind of sentiment and statement we like to make with our music.

Chris Stringer Q&A

Your name:

Chris Stringer.

Where are you from?

I'm from a town called Swansea, in South Wales (I think they're doing OK in the football at the moment).

Who else is in your band?

No one! It's just little old me. Although my producer and good friend, Gerwyn Davies (who plays under the name Gilded Bones), is providing extra guitar instrumentation on my EP, and I'm roping some friends in for bass/drums/keys. I'm hoping to do a full band set up for live shows in the future, though.

How would you describe yourself?

I guess the most accurate genre is 'alternative country', although it could be acoustic, indie, alt-folk… I try not to get too tied down with genres, because people tend to have an expectation which then cages you in. 

Who are your main influences musically?

My biggest influence is a band called Liberty 37 (NOT the white-supremacist band. There are two). The singer was my English teacher, and I taught myself to sing/play guitar by singing along to/working out the songs. I'm a huge fan of Craig Finn (The Hold Steady) lyrically. Guy Garvey (Elbow) has the perfect voice as well as perfect lyrics, and Colin Hay is a big influence as a songwriter. Another massive, massive influence for me is Luke Concannon (Nizlopi) - lyrically, vocally and just as a human being; I'm convinced that he's actually the nicest guy on the planet.  

What do you hope to achieve in music?

The greatest achievement for me would obviously be able to do this for a living. But to have enough of an impact or for people to connect with my music so that I could do shows where they come specifically to see me? That would be the most amazing thing. I had one guy and his girlfriend find & add me on Facebook after one of my shows, and he asked me about one of the songs specifically because they 'really connected with it' - that's the most humbling and incredible feeling.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?

Getting to play with Luke Concannon and Nizlopi, on separate dates. Being able to support such huge influences of mine was a real honour. At Luke's solo show, he and I got to play and sing together - I nearly wet myself with excitement. 

And what’s the moment you want to forget?

I'm fortunate enough to not have any bad memories. Any muck-ups on stage and whatnot, they're all part of it and if they don't teach you how to grow at least they provide you with a good story to tell! Although I once supported The Blanks (Ted's band from 'Scrubs') and a few songs into my set I realised I'd forgotten my capo. That was pretty infuriating!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?

I'd say either 'The Bridge' or 'Sinking Ships'. They're both good indicators of the style of music I play, and I think they are also a good representation of me as a songwriter and vocalist… I hope, at least!

Watkins admits child sex offences

DEPRAVED fuckwit Ian Watkins - formerly of Welsh rock band Lostprophets - has pleaded guilty to series of child sex offences included the attempted rape of a baby.

The 36-year-old from Pontypridd had previously denied the charges against him, but changed his plea on the first day of his trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

Two women standing trial alongside him - who cannot be named for reasons of UK law - also admitted sexually abusing their own children and making them available to Watkins.

DEAF Club have released the video for their track April ahead of the release of their EP Take In Colour next month.

The London via North Wales four-piece emerged in the summer of 2011 with their self-released and recorded debut EP Lull, which garnered them critical acclaim.

Follow up singles have enhanced their reputation making Take In Colour - due out on August 5th - a much anticipated release.

Wakestock announces initial line up

Wakestock festival is back in the Llyn Peninsula in north-west Wales in July with the first wave of acts announced.

Example, Magnetic Man, Zane Lowe, Bastille, The 1975, Jackmaster, Mele and Monki will all play the festival, which combines wakeboarding on the waters of Cardigan Bay, with banging music and entertainment on the festival site.

Where are you from? 
South Wales (Swansea area).

Tom Bradford (Guitar/Vocal), Tom Williams (Drums) & Ben Govier (Bass).

How would you describe yourselves? 
A Power trio of rocking proportions.

Who are your main influences musically? 
AC/DC, Cream, Stevie Ray-Vaughan, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Racontuers, Led Zepplin, the who, Joe Bonamassa.

What do you hope to achieve in music? 
World domination of course, but apart from that we’d like to take our music to as many people as we can. Basically reintroduce the world to Rock & Roll.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why? 
Playing Beach Break Live was pretty cool. The recording and response to our EP ‘Worth The Whiskey’  has been great...and of course most recently our new van ‘Roberta Shaniqua Flood’ (currently on board, typing this).

And what’s the moment you want to forget? 
Nothing apart from the horrific shame felt when falling of your seat in the van. Tom B when ordering McDonalds & Ben when sleeping. A sore ego is always hard to soothe!

If you could choose one of your songs as an advert for your music, what would it be and why? 
Barking Like An Underdog, the first track off the EP.  Its Riff-tastic!!
