Band name:
Colette.
Who is in the band?
Joe Rubino
(guitar), Al Bodas (drums) and Anthony Valbiro (vocals).
Where are you from?
We are from Port
Chester, New York, USA.
How would you describe yourselves?
Our sound is a
mix of hard rock and pop. I think the best description of our sound came from a
blog about us (http://theimpalerspeaks.com/search/colette), which describes our songs as having
“melodic power and vulnerability.” Throughout the song writing process, we go
through great efforts to say something from the heart and truly connect with
our audience.
Who are your main influences musically?
To name a few,
some of our influences are Incubus, Soundgarden, and Shinedown.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We have achieved
everything we set out to do thus far. Looking back on the past year, we created
music that is very special to us and we will move forward in the same way.
Ultimately, we want our lyrics and melodies to move people and inspire.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
A forgettable
moment took place when Joe and Al first started out and part of another band
that had a gig at a local bar. We were following up a metal act so we came on
stage with a lot of energy. Joe quickly broke one of his guitar strings and had
to fake his way through the guitar solo, as the lead singer forgot most of the
song! Although this is very forgettable, this taught us how to make it through
a song when everything goes wrong.
If you could choose just one of your songs
to represent your music, what would it be and why?
The song we
choose to represent our music is, “Complicated.” This song truly captures our
sound through melodic variation throughout the verse, and a hard-hitting hook
for the chorus.
Where can we listen to it?
