Duo head to UK for headlining tour

CRITICALLY-acclaimed Adam Green and Binki Shapiro are to head out on a UK tour starting next week.

The duo will be kicking off at the Village Underground in London on April 9th, before taking in Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Brighton.

What began as an acquaintance, with a mutual appreciation for each other’s music, soon turned serious when an idea was sparked to collaborate on an album of original duets.

As old-fashioned romantics, the pair put their impressive songwriting talents to work in both New York City and Los Angeles, making frequent trips to compose together. The breaks between visits allowed time for their personal lives to throw some emotional curveballs, generously providing inspiration for the next writing sessions.

The result, Adam Green & Binki Shapiro, is deceptively pretty, filled with the echo of late-sixties folk-pop and an easygoing rapport between two captivating singers.

Adam Green first came to prominence as one-half of the Grammy-winning Moldy Peaches before embarking on a successful and prolific solo career. Recent months have seen him add ‘filmmaker’ and ‘visual artist’ to his list of accomplishments.

Binki Shapiro was one-third of Little Joy, the Brazilian-accented Los Angeles trio formed with Fabrizio Moretti and Rodrigo Amarante that enchanted listeners with its critically acclaimed 2008 album. She also collaborated with Beck, MGMT, Devendra Banhart, and Wolfmother to cover Songs of Leonard Cohen for Beck’s Record Club in 2009.
