Face The Lights Q&A

Your names:
Erik Stendebach (drums), Colin "Ace" Benedict (rhythm guitar/vocals) and Fernando Guerra (lead guitar).

Where are you from?
We're based out of Austin, Texas, USA.

Name of band:
Face The Lights

How would you describe yourselves?
Aggressive, melodic evolving metal.

Who are your main influences musically?
Ace - Metallica, Deftones and Pink Floyd
Erik - System of a Down, Coheed and Cambria and Chevelle
Fern - Mars Volta, Lamb of God and Pantera.
...and all three of us draw influence from Tool.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Ace - World domination...no I'm kidding. Widespread influence so more people in more countries can get into us.
Erik - I wanna bring the power of compositional intricacy and technical instrumentation back into music.
Fern - I just wanna play kick ass music.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Erik - Playing a show that got the crowd so amped that they ended up dancing on the bar afterwards.
Ace - Honestly, I can't pick a single moment. All I know is that playing 18 shows or more shows a year in this band feels incredible.
Fern - When we played and won a Battle of the Bands in my hometown. Nothing compared to that moment in my book because a lot of friends, family and random fans were there and I got to be in the crowd when the judging happened.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Driving three hours to a gig where we got ripped off.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
"Condolences in Candles" captures a lot of the musical concept that we're trying to deliver as a band.

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
One of the best parts of our band is the live spectacle. We put out a strong energy and stage presence that can't be captured adequately through our recordings. Within our songs, each part is written to tell its own tale that together comprise a lager story.
