Sam Ali (lead vocals and piano).
Where are you from?
Wexford, Ireland
Name of band:
TouchWood
Who else is in your band?
Bryan Fleming (lead guitar), Mark 'Cappy' Caplice (acoustic guitar and backing vocals) and Michael Fleming (drums and percussion).
How would you describe yourselves?
We're a pop rock band with a piano, we've taken all our influences and tried to make something new and different which we enjoy listening to as well as playing!
Who are your main influences musically?
The Fray, Coldplay, U2, Foo fighters, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Florence & The Machine, Maroon 5 among others.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We'd like to be able to at least sustain a living with our own music but aim to become an internationally recognised act and tour the world.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
For me playing at Oxegen (one of Ireland's biggest festivals) was a huge highlight, meeting acts like the Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars etc. but playing on a big stage in a nearly full festival marquee was just amazing and we felt right at home!
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
We've been lucky enough to not go through any really bad experiences that we'd want to forget but every bad experience teaches you and makes you better at what you do so I don't really think I'd want to forget any.
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Hmm that's a tough one because every one of our songs is like our own little child but I'd say Angelic Era the first proper release on the EP because the first time I heard the final mix for the EP I got really excited and happy knowing that it was finished and people would finally get to hear what we've been working on for the past couple of years.
