Luke
Griffiths.
Where are you
from?
London and Chichester University.
Name of band:
False-Heads.
Who else is in
your band?
Mop Head on bass, Jack Hertz on drums and Jake
Elliott on second guitar (sometimes, it's difficult because even though he
lives in London he goes to York Uni so we try and get stuff done with Jake in
the holidays).
How would you
describe yourselves?
Alternative rock.
Who are your
main influences musically?
Pixies, Radiohead, Nirvana, Elliott Smith, The Sex
Pistols, The Beatles and Bob Dylan.
What do you hope
to achieve in music?
To do it for the rest of my life, I couldn't stand working
in an office for the rest of my life. I'd blow my head off.
What has been
the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Probably being given Q radio new
band single of the week. We usually don't really take too much notice of that
sort of thing but it was sort of inspiring, shows that despite the awful
mainstream shit that dominates, there are people out there who still want to
listen to something new and are willing to take a chance and play small bands.
We are virtually unheard of, so for us to get on Q let alone get 'single of the
week' was just sort of cool, which makes me feel guilty to admit that for some
reason.
And
what’s the moment you want to forget?
So many gigs with dodgy promoters. So many awful promoters in
London. Be careful. Never pay to play, they will dress it up as the gig that
will shoot you into fucking superstardom and it will be dreadful. Never listen to them.
If
you had to choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it
be and why?
Erm at the
minute I'd say 'Fall Around'. It's got a heavy bass and distorted guitars but
if you actually listen to it but it's quite catchy. It's got that loud/quiet
dynamic that we love (that we have shamelessly ripped from the Pixies). I
usually get sick of singing my lyrics but I enjoy them and a few reviews have
said they are hateful and bitter, which they kind of are but they are also
meant to be funny. I just think it sums us up quite nicely I guess.
Where
can we listen to it?
Where
can we find out more about your music?
Anything
else you’d like to say that I forgot to ask?
Erm we've just released our second EP 'Tunnel Vision'. You can download
it for free on the music tab on our facebook page or from the bandcamp. We hope
to release another around Christmas - March sort of time. If you want to catch
us at a show we have the events on our facebook page.
Yeah, that's it really. Thanks.
