Billy Brown works towards new album

ACOUSTIC singer-songwriter Billy Brown is working towards his first album, due out this Spring.

Billy was formerly the singer and guitarist with Friends of Gavin, who supported the likes of REM, Boomtown Rats and Ian Dury, as well as touring the UK and Europe in their own right.

In 1990 he teamed up with Jimmy Brown under his namesake's Orchestra JB project and co-wrote and performed on a number on tracks and the album Tambourine Fever.

After a considerable break from music, Billy performed on Wolfman Radio in September 2013 for a straight 36-hour broadcast by one DJ for the Teenage Cancer Trust. He performed a version of reggae classic Police & Thieves to such acclaim that it was released in December for the Specialised Project for Teenage Cancer Trust.

He has since been asked to perform on the Mad Not Cancer album, due out in mid-2014.
