Book Thieves Q&A

Your name:

Dan Marsh.

Where are you from?
Liverpool, England.

Name of band:
Book Thieves.

Who else is in your band?
Dan Marsh (Drums), Gaz Shaw (Guitar and Backing Vox), Will Maitland (Guitar and Vox), Dave Sutton (Bass).

How would you describe yourselves?
Crème de la crème of live music. It's true, our WAG's say so!

Who are your main influences musically?
Radiohead, Manics, Beatles, Metallica.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To be able to earn a living playing live music, anything else is a bonus.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Finding the name Book Thieves. Previously we really struggled to come up with a suitable name for the band, relying on Audio Asylum as a temporary solution. Unfortunately we were booked for a few hardcore metal gigs so we all agreed that the name needed to be changed. We struggled for 18 months or so to come up with a name that we all liked until finally Dave suggested Book Thieves, immediately we all agreed and that was that.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Monday mornings.

If you could choose one of your songs as an advert for your music, what would it be and why?
Spinning Yarns: It has everything we are about. Interesting intro and verses, moments of musical interest that move onwards towards an upbeat ending. Very strong Rhythm sections, elegant and melodic guitar parts, eerie but beautiful overtones and texture that is grounded and interesting. A track that is as gentle as a well fed panda, but with Balls enough to give Ron Jeremy an inferiority complex.
