The Silent Numbers Q&A

Your name:
Nick Woods.

Where are you from?
Chelsea, Michigan, USA.

Name of band:
The Silent Numbers.

Who else is in your band?
Adrian Melnick, Eric Sabatino, Bryan Robertson.

How would you describe yourselves?
Spygaze.

Who are your main influences musically?
The Cure, Bauhaus, Sonic Youth, Stereolab, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Broadcast, Domakesaythink, Slint, Low, The Smiths, Pixies.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We traffic in original expression. It's the worst thing when bands carbon-copy musical styles. I'm a songwriter and my goal is to create music that makes people feel something.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
The creation of our 7" - it was the first time I got to press any music on vinyl, so that was exciting.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Playing at the Twilight Cafe in Portland – disaster.

If you could choose one of your songs as an advert for your music, what would it be and why?
Probably 'When the light is on'. It pretty much covers a good range of what we're about, except it's too clean. So, we'd probably have to choose two songs, and the other being 'Finer'.

Where can we listen to them?
Where can we find out more about your music?
