The Rebellion Q&A

Band name:
The Rebellion.

Where are you from?
Stoke on Trent, England.

Who is in your band?
Danny Bowers (Lead vocals), Andy Robinson (Bass), Pezz (Guitar) and Charlie Preston (Drums).

How would you describe yourselves?
The Rebellion are an indie rock funk punk fusion band.

Who are your main influences musically?
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, The Who, The Killers, Feeder, Kings of Leon, James Brown, Rolling Stones, The Wombats, The Verve, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix – the list is endless.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
As a band, our main ambition currently is to get signed to a reputable label. We hope to hit the studio very soon, get our six-track EP polished and ready for radio and contact labels with a pro press kit! Ideally, we'd love to hit the big time (let’s face it, what band doesn’t), but we are fully content with the opportunity to play and spread our music!

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
So far would be landing a gig at Keele University as part of The gathering gig. We played to a fantastic crowd and were filmed as part of a documentary on Stoke musicians and the local music scene. We're also over the moon at landing a gig at the Birmingham O2 Academy in may 2013!

And what has been the moment to forget?
Turning up to a gig and the guitarist fails to have a guitar. Always a bad moment, especially when you have to plead with the headlining band to lend them their prized Fender Telecaster. Awkward is not the word.

If you could choose one song to represent your music, what would it be and why?
We'd have to choose Reggae Disco Bitch for this one. Everything we are about musically is incorporated into this song. Mad rap lyrics, slap bass and guitar solos, alongside a miniature drum solo, it has everything! It’s usually the song our local fans associate with us. It’s just fun to play and is influenced by Danny's (singer) idol, Mick Jagger! Sadly we haven’t got this as a recording yet, but it should be there very soon!
