Franka De Mille.
Where are you from?
The Planet Vega.
Who else is in your band?
My band changes all the time but key players are Kevin
Armstrong on guitar who works with David Bowie, Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, Morrissey,
Sinead O'Connor and many more and Antonia Pagulatos on violin (Gorillaz,
Bobby Womack, Tom Jones), Christian Fontana on guitar who also produces some of
my work , Ian Montague on bass or guitar, Matt Dean on drums and Tom
Wraith on Cello.
How would you describe yourselves?
Powerful, intense
and yet delicate.
Who are your main influences musically?
Ricky lee
Jones, Tom Petty, Patti Smith, Antony & the Johnsons, Fleetwood Mac, Kate
Bush, Tom Waits, Pj Harvey, Rene Aubry, lots of classical music...the list is
long.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
Being able to
continue making music as long as I live and share it with a committed, growing
audience.
What has been the highlight of your career so far,
and why?
Headlining a festival on a Saturday night is hard to beat.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Performing with
tonsillitis at The Water Rats. It was like swallowing razor blades.
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent
your music, what would it be and why?
All my songs are different in style
but 'So Long' represents the essence of my music the most. It is dark and
dramatic with quirky instrumentation.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
