Calum Sked.
Where are you from?
Livingston, Scotland.
Name of band:
Penfold.
Who else is in your band?
Steven Dunsmore, Liam Innes, Calum More and Thomas Fraser.
How would you describe yourselves?
Alternative rock. We love playing live and thrive on putting on a show. We're not doing it right if we're not coming off that stage dripping with sweat.
Who are your main influences musically?
Frightened Rabbit, Smashing Pumpkins, Reuben, The Xcerts, Twin Atlantic and Foo Fighters.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We would love to play at a music festival. On top of that we would love for our next bunch of releases to be well received and give us the ability to tour more of the UK!
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
The two launch shows we've played so far for the release of our EP and more recently our single & b-side have been very special nights. We just played as hard and as best we know and our fans made those nights as memorable as they are. Getting our music played by the likes of Jim Gellatly is also very cool!
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Any show we've ever had to cancel through illness or a change in circumstances. We hate cancelling shows. We could say the shows that we only played to two people and their dog but the truth is that we play music to be listened to and if that's only two people in the room then we consider ourselves lucky we have them there to put on a performance for them!
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
At this moment in time it would have to be the first song we ever wrote - Before We Fall. All the enthusiasm and energy we squeezed into this song at the very beginning still makes up the template of how we want any of our songs to come over to our audience and fans.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
Look out for a new release from us later this year which will sound bigger, louder, better and more catchy than anything we've already done.
