ThunderWorks Q&A

Your name:
Michael J. Amari.

Where are you from?
Redding, Connecticut, USA.

Name of band:
ThunderWorks.

Who else is in your band?
On the album it’s just myself and a session vocalist Brandon “Voidspawn” Leigh.

How would you describe yourselves?
A melodic blend of death, thrash, and progressive metal. The music is structured and catchy but yet has unexpected twists that keep the listener engaged.

Who are your main influences musically?
For guitar, James Hetfield of Metallica. Also, Dream Theater and Opeth are big influences on the music.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
I hope to get as many people to hear about ThunderWorks and listen to the music as I can. Whenever someone likes the music it’s a great feeling of accomplishment, I just want people to know about it!

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
The highlight has been the album release, getting to work with people like JF Dagenais from Kataklysm who mixed and mastered the album, “Voidspawn” on vocals, and Kaamos design on the layout. It took many years to see the songs I wrote finally come into fruition on this album, but it has been a very rewarding experience.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
It would have to be getting screwed over by the local recording studio here in Redding, CT. One thing is for sure; I’ll NEVER go there again, and feel sorry for anyone who finds themselves there!

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I think overall the song Thoughts and Thunder would be a good representative song for this album. It is the title track and really just captures the spirit of what this band is between the lyrics, the riffs and the guitar solo.

Where can we listen to it?
