Starkett Levee Q&A

Your name:
Noel Hattem, the lead singer. I also play keys and guitar and wrote most of the songs on our current CD entitled The Damage You Have Caused.

Where are you from?
NYC. Unique New York you're not unique. Say that 3x fast!

Name of band:
Starkett Levee.

Who else is in your band?
John “The Graz” Graziano and I formed the band. He plays guitar, bass and some keys. He also produced the CD. A guitar he uses was given to him by Joe Satriani and he studied with Mike Bloomfield.

How would you describe yourselves and your music?
Alternative rock with potent and catchy lyrics, backed by a mixture of hard to heavy edged straight-ahead rock with dark, rhythmic influences and textures.

Who are your main influences musically?
We were influenced by “Elder Elf Named Elvis” Can you say that 3 times fast? lol
Span of rock, from classic, punk, hard, metal and alternative. I have a particular fondness for grunge still, and a high regard for Chris Cornell.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Artistic expression and recognition, and perhaps go from unsigned to signed. Making money in this current music biz would help too.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Getting nominated for a Grammy this year.....not!

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
When I tripped over Jack Black's foot at the Oscars, also this year.....not.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Well, How Many we have a video for. But that is a rather unique tune and unique video. Did I mention “Rock Up The Hill”, “Sum Of Your Love” and Gun Control Out of Control"??

Where can we listen to it?

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your music that I forgot to ask?
We recorded on a Mac Pro in home studio, good quality for DIY. Rock Up!
