Tom Hamilton.
Where are you from?
I formed the original line-up in school near Carlisle. When the others decided to concentrate on their education I relocated to Liverpool and put together the new line-up there. The band all live in and around the city.
Name of band:
The 45s.
Who else is in your band?
The line-up is: Rob on guitar, Jalen on keyboards, Sam on drums, Mikey on bass and me on lead vocals, guitar and harmonica.
How would you describe yourselves and your music?
We are a rock band influenced by blues, Sixties beat and garage bands.
Who are your main influences musically?
From a long list I would choose Sun House, Howlin Wolf, the Beatles, the Stones, the Small Faces, the Yardbirds, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, MC5, the Stooges, Dr Feelgood, the Jam, Oasis, the Strokes, the Fratellis, Arctic Monkeys, the Hives.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
Apart from global domination? I want to be able to take my band round the world playing to appreciative audiences. It is all about the buzz of performing for me.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
With the new line-up, definitely playing in front of a fantastic crowd at our first gig in Liverpool at the Arts Club. There were 600 people there and they went mental.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
I want to remember all of it in order that I can appreciate success, if and when it comes.
If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
I am writing new songs all the time and my musical tastes are developing so ask in three months and it will be different. But now, it is probably a song called “Don’t bring me down” which you can hear a demo version of on our Soundcloud page.
Where can we listen to it?
